I'm happy to report that THE JUNGLE FLORIDA in Deerfield Beach Florida went out of business!
There is a new owner and a new name and I've been told by a friend in that industry that the new place is improved in every way. And uses actual HO UVB lighting!
A win for the hobby!
THE JUNGLE FLORIDA in Deerfield Beach Florida has gone out of business!
I've been told by someone I trust that the new owner (new business name) has made vast improvements. Including using actual HO UVB lighting
I'm very unhappy to report that in the months I was away from the forum, my sickly Chameleons health took a turn for the worse and he passed away after suffering from a fall in his cage.
This really sucks.
He and I fought as best as we could. But he just couldn't recover from the terrible start...
It will be mostly just for extra light.
My T5 HO 5.0s and single 40 watt floods don't make it "daytime" bright enough in my opinion. And 40 watt floods are perfect for my basking areas.
My plants are Pothos. I'm convinced that they'd grow in a closet! But I figure the 6500k wouldn't hurt. And I...
I have a T5 HO 5.0 strip florescent ZOOMED 24" on each of my chameleon enclosures along with drippers, heat lamps, mist king heads, etc.
Not much extra room!
But I want an additional 6500k light for plants and extra light in general. The cages are pretty dim.
Can I use these and just replace one...
Yep.
Raise the fogger up higher.
The mist is gathering on the walls of the pipes and running back down.
One of my foggers are placed ON TOP of 2 cages on a stand. The other one sits on top of a cement block laying on its side
I've tested a bunch of T8 and T5 tubes on the tortoiseforum.org
I don't remember the exact number. But you're correct. A T8 5.0 broadcasting through a screen puts out almost no UVB past about 4".
For years I used a T8 5.0 Reptisun tube in a fixture I purchased from Walmart.
The ballasts will work. But as has already been said, the reflectors are different.
It'll work. Just not quite as well.
With his newly restored health, he's developing a new personality.
He's very cranky.
Maybe he's tired of me constantly bothering him to give him his liquid calcium?
For a little guy with bent bones, he's pretty fast on those branches too!
He's beginning to get around like a healthy, mean Panther.
This is his latest Xray.
The vet says his bones are now 85% normal density.
But the leg bones will never straighten. And the fact that he has long suffered from MBD is proven
Stay away from THE JUNGLE FLORIDA
The 2nd photo really shows how bent his arm long bones are.
That poor thing.
Thank you once again FORUM MEMBERS for catching that in time.
This PROVES that prior to my purchasing him, he was not kept correctly.
The Xrays explain how bone density can be restored and MBD can be stopped. But the...
We just got back from BROWARD AVIAN AND EXOTIC and Dr. Pardini.
His bones show an astounding 85% normal density!
I'll continue treatment for another 2 months. Then he can live the rest of his life in relative health.
Bent bones and all
Welcome
I have Veileds and a Panther here in south Florida.
I found that the nighttime drop into the lower 60s was something I can't provide for a Jacksons.
