I use 40 watt incandescents.
Perfect heat and no chance of burns, either.
If you plan on keeping Chameleons for a while, I suggest you STOCKPILE some incandescent bulbs.
They're not being manufactured much any more and are already very hard to find.
This forum correctly identified a female Panther that I bought as a male.
Then correctly identified MBD in a Panther that I'd recently purchased. (He's being treated)
Now I understand that I've been feeding these 14 month old and 16 month old Veilds WAY TOO MUCH food.
I've cut back to about 3...
I want to report my review of THE JUNGLE FLORIDA. A reptile shop in Deerfield beach Florida.
They sold me a male VOHEMAR Chameleon for $349 that I posted and members here correctly identified it as a female.
I told the owner. Jay and he agreed to swap it for another male. There was a slightly...
I mentioned on another thread about my wifes severe Roach Phobia to any winged roach that looks too much like our indigenous "Common cockroach". This unfortunate eliminated even Discoid and Banana roaches.
I've ordered 20 Horseshoe crab roaches to try out.
Hopefully they will become my #2 staple...
Here in south Florida, there is a small list of legal feeders.
I see silk MOTH eggs and larvae for sale online.
(The adults being hard to find.)
How do you hatch the eggs? And what do you feed them as they grow?
I'm not sure if any local plant species are suitable.
All 3 of my chams head to the farthest reaches of their cages as soon as I open the door.
Then run back out the moment I leave to see if I bought any food.
Is this a vet that actually understands a Chameleons physiology, etc?
A lot of vets say that they "know" exotics. Then use outdated and harmful information to treat your animal.
I see this ALL of the time on a certain Tortoise forum I'm a member of.
This may or may not be the case here. But it...
Mine go off at 9am for 3 minutes.
At noon and at 4 pm for 1 minute and at 8 pm for 3 minutes.
Then my humidifiers kick in at 10pm and run until 6am.
My drippers drip from 9am to noon.
Maybe this isnt for everyone's liking. But my chams respond to it well.
Of course you'd need longer intervals if...
I just pulverized some in my food processor and added it to my calcium at about that ratio.
Thanks.
Those granules are like gravel until you break them apart!
I've been seeing that bee pollen may be beneficial for both Chameleons and the feeders as well.
I'm offering it as part of the gutload for my insects.
And I'm considering it as part my dusting regime.
That's actually my question: Is it beneficial to use as part of my vitamin dusting that I give...
Yes, I do dust all of them
☆Calcium every day
☆Calcium with D3 less than once a week
☆Calcium and vitamin dust about the same. A week to 10 days apart.
I'm also rotating BEE POLLEN into my vitamin dust.
I've started a new post about that, actually
As far as staples readily available in south Florida...
It's a short list.
Many feeders are illegal to import here.
I feed dusted, loadef Banded Crickets each feeding.
Im breeding Superworms. They are a treat food.
I can also get Hornworms.
I'm attempting to set up a horseshoe crab roach colony...
According to that, I've been overfeeding my adults. (Way overfeeding)
And yes, looking at the crests, cheek pads and legs, they are a little fat.
(With YOUTUBE as a guide)
Obesity is something I never considered. And I truly learn something new all of the time.
I'll be feeding 2 or 3 dusted...
