Today I purchased organic topsoil and play sand. I have my chameleon's laying bin full of substrate so I'm going to switch it out. I was wondering what the best way to set up the soil and sand would be? Should I put the play sand 3/4 of the bin and then the topsoil 1/4? Any suggestions would be...
Thank you for suggestions. Tomorrow I will go and get organic soil and playsand. She will not leave her cage for me so I need it to fit inside her cage. So I may need to get a 12" by 12" bin.
My chameleon is starting to go the bottom of her cage and will go back up to the top of her cage. I have a pot in there for her, with plantation soil (substrate) for reptiles because that's what I was recommended to use. Is this an okay soil for her? How big does the pot/bucket have to be?
I have a 100w heat bulb and a 10.0 UVB ReptiSun mini compact flouorescent bulb. I heard that these are safe, and this is what most Chameleon owners use. Would both of the bulbs be too hot for my chameleon? Or do you think she'd be okay? She seems to get these dark outlining circle around her eyes.
I'm not sure how tall my cage is because the lady never told me. I was planning on getting a new one soon, she has shade to go to if she wants. I'll see her basking under the light all day, so I just wanted to make sure she was safe. Thank you! @Lathis
Hi, I was wondering if I should switch out one of my bulbs. The guy at the exotic pet store told me to use Repti Sun 10.0 but after reading about it, is it too hot? My cham is only 5, almost 6 months old. I have a Repti Sun 5.0 bulb coming in tomorrow, would that be safer?!
That definitely could be it, since you said it's when you have the heating lamp on. He probably is either relaxed, or trying to warm up as they tend to darken. Mine usually turns a dark brown or green when hiding in leaves or under her basking lamp...
