The other day I let him climb on a small tree in my front yard. He was thoroughly enjoying this experience climbing all over the branches, when suddenly an odd looking snake appears from below! He immediately puffs, gapes, hisses, and headbutts the dangerous predator using every mechanism of...
Discoid adults will have wings and are pretty noticeably different than nymphs.
Seems I have basically all adults in my discoid bin at the moment. Need to stop feeding them off so much and let them catch up i think.
I also just had 2000 small red runner nymphs arrive yesterday
Supplementation: Calcium everyday and Repashy LoD twice a month
Volume comparison:
2x2x4 = 16 ft^3
3x2x3 = 18 ft^3
I didnt notice him using as much of his vertical space in his previous enclosure, so i thought a wider vs taller setup would suit him better. Even now I only see him utilize a...
I've had Martin for just about 5 months now and am always looking for ways to improve my husbandry for him. So, I thought I'd reach out for some feedback on my husbandry.
About Martin: 9 month old male Ambilobe/Ambanja mix
Enclosure: DIY 36x24x36
Lights: 100W incandescent dimmed to about...
I think your technique for grabbing the faster or more elusive species' to be fed off to chams would be beneficial (to me at least lol - red runners and green bananas are pretty damn hard to snag)
Oof, didn't know the diapause was necessary. Here i was thinking I could have a steady supply of silks.
Might just have to buy some eggs online.
Thanks everyone!
How long does it usually take for silkworm eggs to hatch once they have been laid? (Ambient temp = 78F)
I've had some eggs for 2-3 weeks now. All but a few look to have been fertilized and have darkened. It looks like some white shed-looking stuff has come off or out of some of them also during...
Thanks guys! Wish they looked different from the top down lol it's hard enough to grab those things from the bin in the first place. Gonna have to flip them over now
Fed my boy what I thought was an adult male discoid this morning. Only to find quite a few tiny little white discoids come out of the roach after he chomped down on it a couple times. It was pretty disgusting lol. And the little ones were alive.
Here I was thinking they were sexually dimorphic...
I've used it once and I only covered the side of the pot that was visible, so I left the drainage holes uncovered by foam.
I used regular cheap plastic plant pots from lowes.

Obviously these are general recommendations so you should consider how your cham reacts to things
He seems to now be on the lower branches from what I've seen today (i work 9-5 so I can't observe him throughout the day). Maybe I should try raising the UVB?
He has been going all over it since moving him in there, but maybe spends most of his time on the high long branch closest to the door.
I moved the UVB to be directly above that branch now, but he moved away from it. A 6% T5HO in a dual fixture 9" above the branch shouldn't be too much UV for...
does anyone know where I can find a large stand that my 36x24x36 cage will fit on top of? I'd prefer for it to have cabinet doors so I can store my supplements, mistking, etc.
I'm having a hard time finding something that would be the right size
