Even with 2 adults with varying schedules, we had to quickly decide and purchase an automatic mister for our Jackson. It is imperative to their health to have a higher humidity level....I think even the larger Chams require a higher humidity level than you expect.
In saying same, live plants...
Chameleon Info: the more pics the better
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your...
I believe from other threads and established veiled Cham keepers that while maturity can widely vary in timing for each individual cgam, the age of your veiled wouldn't be uncommon she is needing to lay eggs. @jannb is very experienced, to the point of raising happy healthy generations of...
He was such a seriously sweet animal....it is really sad to think I formed a cog in their sceme to keep their stock animals rotating at the cost of the animals....egh. but, I learned a lot and do everything I can to not even purchase cat food there now....it's such a sour topic. I'm grateful...

Mr Gus Tuco Salamonca :p He's a 8 mth Jackson on the mend from PetCo mishandling.
Maybe he posted up underneath the deck for a hiding sleep position and is waiting for warmth to venture out and bask.
I'm grateful ours is to small to get down off his plants, but he tries and tries everytime, resorting to tail hanging at times....
An option I never realized existed for these guys is pet insurance--- believe @jannb said she's able to pay only $8-10/month per Cham, with a discount for quantity , but I will be jumping on this option....it adds up fast and allows you to parent a litttle easier and get some peace of mind!
Yes--james is absolutely correct. If you have branches in your area that are clean of chemicals, I also do the same with putting in my cage. I like allowing the bugs to get into the permanent plants, but have resorted to removing my hibiscus in and out so I can keep it alive and have an issue...
Absolutely.
We purchased our Jackson from PetCo. From absolutely inaccurate care advice from multiple employees, from giving us a night basking light and a heat pad for the bottom of our tank, to saying mealworms were all to feed him.....they even sold us a hermit crab cave for the bottom of...
Wash plants: .they need a mild/diluted dish soap with water mixture sprayed on all the leaves/plant, then rinsed throuoghly 3-4 times...
I've read of ppl using other methods to treat all leaves and stems....I want to say vinegar perhaps, but I'm sure someone else will offer expierence here as I...
I wouldn't leave the window open near the Cham. No vents right next to the cage, no open windows unless you're physically there to keep track of heat. We are also in (basically) Detroit (Royal Oak) and you know how the days drastically vary from 90° (110° with humidity over memorial weekend)...
Also, remove the waterfall. They get all their water from drippers/hand misting/automatic misters such as a mistking unit.
For live plants, did you repot/prepare plants prior to cage placement? They can have anything from pesticides to fertilizer that could be making them die. Vieleds eat...
Eye rubbing can be a shedding issue, where extra mistings and showers per instructions on this forum could help.
It also can be an infection.
Because of the history you've already had, as well as it being a new pet from the same store, I would highly recommend getting it to a local exotic vet...
My goodness, I'm so sorry to hear this. I'd share the awful video with the manager at ups, and contact his higher up. That's appauling to read about, I cannot imagine witnessing in person .it actually terrifies me in consideration of a future addition as well. I may have to look for breeders...
What sizing is your new big cage? You have a species that getsuch larger than our Jackson and ours is in a cage the sz pictured and will need an upgrade...Ours comes out now often, I've heard they'll pick whatever the lesser threat is, so if it's a small/crowded caging over where they percieve...
