If it was me I would get some soft hornworms or silkworms ASAP, that might peak his interest. If not, wait another day or two with no food, keep him well hydrated of course. Syringe water him if you have to.
When he does accept the food, I would coat it in a tiny bit of veggie oil just to...
What are your basking temps? What time do you feed him? Sometimes a late meal or improper temperatures can cause this. When I had my first cham, this happened with a hornworm if I recall correctly. Freaked me out, but it was a good learning experience going forward.
From what I've seen on different groups and even a local reptile shop, the MVB seems to be suspended quite a bit farther away than the usual heat/uvb set up. I've also always seen it used in addition to these set ups, not as a stand alone.
These pictures were well worth the trouble. Very interesting little guy, his contrast between the 1st and 3rd pictures is very cool! I like those red accents along his spine and tail. Thanks for sharing!
I used organic veggie garden soil with no fertilizer in it. Personally I didn't cover the top with rocks. The soil is so soft and organic, I don't see it doing any harm. No harm to cover it, either.
Just had a quick question that I couldn't find through the search function.
I have an Ambilobe male and what I was told is a Nosy Be female for him. I've heard previously that when bred, only the male's colours will come through on the babies.
Experienced breeders, do you find this to be...
I've been hearing more and more about MVB, it has also piqued my interest. Please keep us updated on how your chams progress under this light if you can. It may be a future purchase for myself
I'll second that. Pothos grows like crazy in wet and dry conditions, sun or shade. It's also one of the only plants that grows leaves back as fast as the veiled can chomp on them. Just make sure to prune it every so often and get rid of the leaves that get munched.
I use this supplement every other day on my panthers, and had previously used it on my Yemen, also with success. I find it a lot easier than the old regimen of switching vitamin/D3 every week.
Sorry to hear this. It's hard to lose a cham, and it's a risk you run with a female unfortunately. It's not your fault at all. You did all you could, and most than many would.
I lost my first cham this way, due to inexperience. It was hard to see the pictures with her mouth open, towards the...
Typically the recommended height is about 10 inches. Depends on the light, here's a link to a chart which should answer your question:

What is your UVB situation? Just a few days ago I noticed my female panther closing her eyes before bedtime while basking, right after commenting in a thread in the health clinic. Turns out a new UVB tube or compact that's too close will bother their eyes. Eliminate that scenario and go from...
Try hand feeding him tasty worms. This way, he'll start to associate you with being fed. It may take a while at first, perhaps he won't even go for them at first, but eventually he'll get excited to see your hands around the cage.
I also find that taking the chams outdoors (once you can handle...
I third this. I'll never get anything less than ZooMed.
Thought I would add however, my female panther is under a fairly new 5.0 T8 ZooMed. I have never spotted her closing her eyes while basking or any time during the day.
Since yours is on the younger side, emailing the breeder was a good...
I would get 10% UVB light on it asap. Start supplementing the FF with Repashy Calcium Plus, and get a small medical dropper from the drug mart to hydrate. For my babies, I connect the water droplet from the dropper onto their lips (careful with the nose holes) and eventually they take the water...
I almost never see my chams drink. That doesn't mean that they never do.
I would keep a water cup in there, clean it daily, keep misting and keep a dripper going. All animals like to drink, it's instinctual.
I have a feeling your chams problem is that he isn't getting enough nutrition in his...
