Mine (I'm also in Florida) also catch wild anoles and geckos too on occasion, but I never give them lizards on purpose. I love lizards, so catching/buying anoles to use as feeders is beyond me but I do understand that the chameleons don't feel the same way. If they see one in their cage because...
Why not look into roaches? Something like dubia roaches (if you're not in Florida) is a great feeder because they don't climb smooth surfaces, don't fly, don't chirp, and don't smell, so you can keep a number of them in a plastic storage tub with egg crates and they will breed on their own with...
All three of my Meller's will trip all over themselves to eat the superworm beetles! I don't know why but if they see one you can see their eyes get all bright and they rush towards me.
Second favorite would be hornworm moths! Followed by superworms, crickets, roaches, and hornworms...
Mine too! I shot an event once with the camera, the battery grip, my Canon Speedlight, AND my lens (which I think was a 70-200mm? Maybe a little smaller, I don't remeber) and it weighed like (and occupied the same space as) a small child. It was ridiculous holding it lol
That's definitely...
Use the NeverWet for what, to coat the cage? I am not familiar with how that product would work on screen, I don't know it it's viscous and will end up covering the mesh holes (in which case you lose UVB and air circulation).
You could get this cage from Amazon...
Your panthers can probably eat the moths when they first emerge, before they open up their wings. I had one panther snatch a pupa out of my hand once by accident and he chewed it up and found it too gross to swallow, so it was a moth wasted. But he and everyone else LOVE the moths, so I'd wait...
Nope. MBD isn't caused by bacteria, it's a calcium deficiency (caused usually by low calcium in the diet or too much/little vitamin D, which impedes calcium absorption into the bones) but wouldn't be affected by antibiotics unless there was a secondary infection.
The best way to halt the...
Zoo Med ReptiBreeze Open Air Screen Cage, Medium, 16 x 16 x 30-Inches - Like Renn said, that will be ok for a little baby but probably not beyond age 5-6 months. You may want to look into ordering a cage from LLLReptile.com or DIYCages.com instead, the Reptibreeze cages have a reputation for...
I have a Canon 60D and a few lenses, I mainly use my 50mm and my 70-300mm telezoom. So one is for being up close and the other is to take photos of the chameleons from far away, which usually stresses them out less (especially the Meller's, who show the black spots of disapproval the second they...
It's hard to say without knowing what is causing the swelling. Photos would be a good start but if it's an injury like a strain or whatnot that didn't leave a bruise it'll be difficult to say. Would there be a reason to suspect gout, in your gutloading or something?
The fake trees are fine, you'll just need to add thicker branches or dowels from one to another so the fake leaves act more like cover than pathways, since they're flimsy. For mine I cut down branches from trees outside and that's what runs through my cages/free ranges, and they offer a lot of...
If there were a definitive way it wouldn't be so tricky lol Well, technically there is but you need an ultrasound machine.
I think that if gauging behavior is a no-go because they are already all together then look at their body shape from above. Fluxlizard talks about this on different...
Ok, today I'm on the computer and can write out something longer! I love Tampa, I'm in Miami right now but am planning on moving up there more permanently in perhaps another year.
- Space: Meller's are big and heavy, so they definitely seem to prefer horizontal space over vertical space. So...
I'm on my phone so I'll try to remember to come back tomorrow and write out more but in the mean time check out Melleridiscovery.com - it's a good website with a lot on their care and housing, so that should help.
Cute! I love geckos, I was really into them 5-6 years ago and am starting to get back into them again. Leopards and cresteds are awesome pets.
I only keep African fat tailed geckos right now because they're my favorite of the terrestrial geckos. Here's my only male, a striped white out, London.
In my experience helping others I think people fail in one (or unfortunately, sometimes two) of two ways:
1. They didn't start off with a healthy animal; they got their pet from a pet store or cheap dealer who sold them a weak, sick, or too-little baby.
2. They didn't set up everything...
I have my two blue merle Shetland sheepdogs, Mina (female, 6 years old) and Milou (male, 2.5 years old) who are my babies and then a huge tank with a small handful of African fat tailed geckos of different morphs and genders.
