eating hornworm pupa ?

yes, no ??? my hornworm project has gone mad I HAD soooooo many eggs, and babies- ( I am failing on the baby part- they keep dieing off - whats left my chams will take care of soon ) but I have many worms that just went to pupa state in the last few days - can the pupa be fed off ? I did not relies the amount of eggs one moth would lay - and I had about 25 laying eggs - I do not want that many again - lol if not feed off the pupa, I can feed off the moths - they like them - but can the pupa be fed too ?

Your panthers can probably eat the moths when they first emerge, before they open up their wings. I had one panther snatch a pupa out of my hand once by accident and he chewed it up and found it too gross to swallow, so it was a moth wasted. But he and everyone else LOVE the moths, so I'd wait for them to pop out and feed them off.

If I lived nearby to you I would definitely offer to take them off your hands lol The moths really are a delicacy with the Meller's.

Moth feeding is our drive in movie theatre. My kid actually finds them, nurtures and hatches them. 'I warm them with my body' (he's young so don't pick on him) he says. Then 30 seconds after they emerge, we're feeding them off. I will never let him be my medical careperson. He'd feed me off too.

thats what I wondered , if they would be to "runny" and if they shoot anything like that water nasty stuff the worms do when they get eaten - YUCK I give him the worms and DUCK - lol
