I guess it depends on your budget and what you consider "nice looking" lol. You could get a TV stand for 50" or bigger TV like this one https://www.walmart.com/ip/Walker-Edison-42-Black-Wood-Highboy-TV-Stand-for-TVs-up-to-48-Muliple-Colors/15397813 that isn't too pricey but you'd probably want...
You could always get some PVC pieces to line the bottom 6"-8" of the screen cage (on the inside) and silicone them in place. Or do what I did and build a planter box for your cage to sit on top of. Either way, if done properly, should prevent any soil or bugs from escaping if you wanted to give...
Thanks for the compliments guys.
@Extensionofgreen Thanks for the tip on the fertilizer I'll be sure to pick up some Osmocote so I can add that in a few weeks. So will the soil with fertilizers I'm using be able to break down the cham feces ok by itself? That might be good news for me since I'm...
Thanks and you're right about those ones being safe. I used the DAP aquarium grade silicone to attach the cork pieces to the back if the cage as well as attaching the plastic threaded coupling to the wood bottom that I'm using as my overflow. I can only find little 2.8 oz tubes of the aquarium...
Here's the completed setup so far. I'm hoping the pothos will grow out enough in the next few weeks to cover the top branches some. Right now i just have the LED bulbs on my ZooMed hood running but will add the T5 Acadia 6% bulb and a basking bulb once I get the cage moved to its permanent spot...
Hey guys,
So I'm getting ready to get a new cham and have decided I'd try to go bioactive with this next setup. I've read a bunch of threads on here and some other places online and I'm hoping I'm on the right track but I wanted to show you guys what I'm working with in case there's anything I...
If it were me I'd keep looking. The height is great but I don't think the width and depth is going to give you enough horizontal roaming area for an adult male veiled. The majority of my chams (panthers) preferred using the horizontal space and would roam around from side to side or corner to...
That's so cool I hope you guys have a great time. Hopefully the weather will be nice this time of year. I got to do some training in Kenya when I was in the Marines and I swear it felt like we were ants under a magnifying glass over there lol.
I think a lot of people use Great Stuff pond and fountain (or something like that). I used a 4' x 8' sheet of Styrofoam, cut to size, added the planters, carved in the faux rock design, then covered it in caulking, and did a couple coats of paint and sealant. I'm definitely going full bioactive...
I did something similar with my big DIY cage only I made the background out of styrofoam. I like all wood in your background but my cage was too big to do it that way (hard finding the right tyoe of wood in the sizes i needed).
I think a lot of it has to do with how much research you put in prior to bringing one home. I got my first one (a juvenile male jacksons) back in the late 90's when i was maybe 13 or 14 and thought it was coolest pet ever. Unfortunately i got pretty terrible care instructions from the pet store...
Great video Jann. You can totally tell how relaxed they are and how much they all trust you. That speaks volumes about what an awesome keeper you are (y)
Sure can and it's pretty easy too. Basically you just need to lay something like a metal bar across the top of the cage from one side to the other to support the weight and then thread some fishing line through the screen to your hanging pot and back up to the bar.
I used a piece of bamboo...
I wound up making those myself after seeing someone on here do it. You probably did yours the same way if you've made one already but I used an egg crate light diffuser cut down to 18" x 18" (or whatever the exact size of the floor was) and made a screen frame with the same dimensions out of a...
