Bio active?

While I've never seen a bioactive in a full screen enclosure like a ReptiBreeze, you could make one for a solid floor and partially to contain dirt sides for it. It would help with drainage, and decomposes waste if you have springtails or isopods, and is aesthetically pleasing if it is done right. You would also want to be careful about KP eating the substrate. Good Luck! (How is KP doing?)

That’s what I was thinkin, I’m not sure if I want to do it but every other reptile I have i’ve Been switching over to bioactive enclosures. I really like the look of them and the fact I can plant straight into the soil. But I don’t think it would do a lot of good for KP you know?

KP is doing Great! Little dude loves his new upgraded enclosure and lights, he’s a lot more active, his color stays a pretty constant green except for basking, and he loves to eat supers and crickets. He’s getting big and I’m enjoying him a lot. I think he’s enjoying his time with me as well, he hasn’t been running away or hissing at me lol he’s filling out, skin looks great, very alert. I’m very happy with him, thank you for asking

I think everyone should be using bioactive setups outside of quarantine situations. The biodude YouTube channel actually has a bioactive build in a screen enclosure.

@Goose502 I actually saw that and his videos have been helping me out. One of the reasons I wanted to get everyone’s opinion on the matter. I’d really like to do it but at the same time I may just wait until I move him into his larger enclosure to venture that way. I know it’s more astetically pleasing and the benifits of the living ecosystem are great but at the same time the set up I have now seems to be doing fine with my plants. I’ll probably incorporate it in my next build.

I saw that video. That seems like a bad idea to do it in that type of screen enclosure, you will have bugs everywhere (springtails, etc.) I wouldn't do it in that type of enclosure.

I don’t disagree with you, I wouldn’t attempt it either. But for an outdoor or greenhouse enclosure, it’s nice to know you can do bioactive in a screen enclosure.

I would probably wrap the perimeter of the bottom of the enclosure with some kind of hard plastic or plexiglass to create a barrier if I dont just create my own enclosure to suit my needs. But That’s what I was thinking too. Plus it just seems that it wouldn’t be very beneficial for me, seeing that my Cham passes everything up top in the leaves and i’d Still have to clean up top. But I know he would benifit in being in a more natural habitat. Idk, btw I could only snag one pic cause even though he’s chill with me walking by the enclosure he’s still a stickler when I open the enclosure. Also, that humidity gage and temp cage are off because of the basking light. His basking temp is 85 exactly, and the humidity drops to around 40% up there but the rest of his enclosure stays 55-60%+ all the time.

You could always get some PVC pieces to line the bottom 6"-8" of the screen cage (on the inside) and silicone them in place. Or do what I did and build a planter box for your cage to sit on top of. Either way, if done properly, should prevent any soil or bugs from escaping if you wanted to give it a try.

That’s exactly what I was planning on doing lol I like your style @NorCalAnthony

I’ll probably end up doing just that with his big enclosure. I mean hell why not right? It’s better for the little guy I imagine, most natural is the best. And I’m not afraid of bugs gettin into my house lol doesn’t bother me.

So does anyone on here know a pretty good amount on plants? I just planted some new plants into my crested gecko enclosure but there are a few that I can’t identify so I’m not 100% sure they’re safe. I purchased them because they are terrarium plants, and I was told they would be safe. But figured I should double check with people who actually know what can and can’t be put with herps

Flchams has a great safe plant list. I've been using it as my go to when purchasing new plants that I'm unsure of. As for knowing much about plants, I'm the wrong guy lol

Fl chams has a good plant list according to other people, but I would just like to say that bromeliads are amazing and are underrated, they look good with pothos and sandblasted wood.
