Yeah silkworms are one of the few foods they can eat as a staple. I'm thinking it may be good to give them roaches and crickets every now and again.

Stunted wings are because you didn't give them a proper perch to pump them, if the soil was too dry theyd get stuck and die in the pupae shell. You either need to have sticks that are firmly proper up or keep them in a screen cage.

Breeding waxworm is very easy too, but I'd have to agree that the moths are a better feeding option for them, but the cool thing is you can diapause them (keep worms 10 hrs light, 14 hrs dark, ar cooler temps) and refridgerate the pupae them and take them out to eclose and feed as needed.

I always thought dandelions were supposed to be the best along with grape leaves for calcium and mulberry for protein. Dandelions are still Live and growing until there's been snow for more than 3 weeks straight or below freezing temps with no break for at least a week and a half.
