Simple answer is no you didn't, even without suplimenting I wouldn't expect a healthy chameleon to die in 2 weeks, it may be down to something else, was the Cham eating and drinking? But it sounds to me that you were sold a unhealthy chameleon

Colours really don't mean anything at a young age, infact atm with my baby's the females seem to be more colourful that the males right now but they are young, from the second pic it gives me a opinion but I don't want to say and be wrong
First one looks ambilobe but looks like he has a little tamatave pattern on his head and the second I believe to be tamatave, how does the second fire up?

From the females colour she does look receptive, is she hissing or anything to him? If not just leave her in there for a while but keep a watchful eye, he should start chaseing
