Julirs, you use a similar method that i use. Where did you come up with the idea to do this? I used larger tubs in the past but this seems to be the perfect size.
I use 5.0s on mine.
Here are a couple of pics of the way that I set mine up:
The ones that I am currently using are actually close the size of a 10 gallon aquarium just shaped a little different. They are a bit deeper and wider so it is easier to keep potted plants in them. One reason why I don't use 10 gallon tanks is that I prefer to not use a top and the little...
I use tupperware tubs for mine, and I don't use a top for easier access to water and feed. I use a 25 w bulb for basking on newly hatched F. pardalis, it depends on how close the light will be to them. I always use live plants for mine, they seem more comfortable on them. I wouldn't keep...
Congrats! Be patient, don't try to pull them out. Let them do it on their own. Some of them will sit for awhile, even a couple of days before they emerge.
Just an update, I have 16 that have fully hatched out by Halloween. There are still 8 eggs in that clutch that aren't doing anything but still look viable. I have had eggs in the past hatch as many as 6 months after the first initial group has hatched from the same clutch, so i will have to...
Actually you never really know what you are going to run across in FL. I live in Orlando and I have had someone bring me a Jacksonii xantholophus female that was in their yard. As bad as it sucks, and as illegal as it is, people are still releasing pets in all parts of the state, and they...
As a chairman of the Central Florida Herpetological Society, I see every month how many members that we have and how many that actually show up to meetings. I am surprised and scared that because of the decline in participation each month over the past few years, that we are forgetting about...
Actually beta carotene can be converted to vitamin A by some animals, it is not vitamin A until it has been converted. You will not find preformed vitamin A (actual vitamin A) an most suppliments that are on the market, it comes in the less toxic form of beta carotene, waiting to be...
Thanks guys! There are 6 that have fully hatched and 9 more that have split the end of their shells. These guys are bigger hatchlings than their mother was when she hatched. I'm not sure what causes that but I like it. I will post more pics when I get home this afternoon.
Thanks guys! I get off of work in about 30 minutes and I can't wait to go home and see how many are out. No matter how many times that I hatch these little guys I still get excited every time. I will post more pics on here when I get home.
I checked these F. pardalis eggs when I was getting ready for work this morning. I found 11 little noses and one foot peeking out at me. They will probably be out by the time I get off of work this afternoon. Luckily I keep plenty of fruitfly cultures for my dartfrogs these day so I don't...
The vet needs to weigh the cham to get a proper dosage for him. He will probably prescribe flagyl or another antiparisitic med. which can only be obtained from a licensed vet. Is he charging you another office visit to bring the cham in? Some vets do that. If that is what it takes to treat...
OMG! Talk about planning ahead. Have you had this set up for the past year and a half with no cham? Hopefully you get one soon, you have a better setup then some people who already have chams. Is that plant still alive?
I don't know of anything that the light would cause besides the bulb being old and not providing uva & uvb. Have you tried giving him a shower to flush out the eyes. Many times when a chameleon is kept in an enclosure and misted by hand, it never really gets a true shower like it would get in...
Here are the names of the animals in the photos:
1.) Trioceros sternfeldi (Mountain chameleon, from Tanzania)
2.) Rieppeleon brevicaudatus (Bearded pygmy chameleon, from Tanzania)
3.) Furcifer pardalis (Panther chameleon, Ambanja region of Madagascar)
4.) Furcifer pardalis...
