    Finally, success!!

I was unsuccessful for my first few attempts until I realized my temps were off. The original material I read said to keep crickets at 75-80F, which I found out later was why they weren't breeding. Another source I read said to breed, increase temps to 82-86 F, which worked for me...

Panther passed after 3 weeks - advice please

It definitely sounds like he was sick when you bought him. The only recourse y you would have against the shop depends on their returns/guarantee for live animals. Most local shops around my area guarantee animals for 7 days, meaning if your animal dies within 7 days of purchase, you can bring...

    Panther egg (DOUBLE THE SIZE)

I have no experience with incubating eggs, but I was just curious if you could candle it? Idk if that's possible or a good idea, but it might tell you if you have separate twins or conjoined twins, and what direction they are facing.

Looks skinny when he's not all puffed up

In the pic, it looks like he is actually stretching himself out lengthwise. My male veiled does that too, sometimes a few days before shedding and other times just to do it. He does all kinds of weird stretches and poses... We just day it's Louie doing his aerobics. He also flattens himself out...

Weird skin thing on Jackson's ankle

I'm on my phone and cannot quote the health form, so forgive me if I forget something. Jackson's chameleon, male, approx. 4 months old; I've had him for about 5-6 days. I've only handled him to get him out of the box. I got him from a pet shop, he is supposedly CB. He eats 6-8 crickets a...

    Hardy Dubias?

Dubias are pretty resilient, and they will eat pretty much anything carbohydrate or cellulose based. Like cardboard or egg crates. Not saying it's healthy, but they will. They have a life span of about 2 years and gestation of about 2 months, so they probably will reproduce assuming there are...

    Supplementation/MBD 1

Just wanted to say thank you for writing all this up. I have found so little actual scientific information about chameleons (or reptiles in general). It drives me crazy because as a nurse, I'm used to specific information and parameters. I'm printing this out to go in my chameleon binder. Thanks...

Took my Chameleon to the vet today.

I'm sure he will get better quickly now that you've got him all patched up. You sound like an excellent chameleon parent. I just wanted to mention for future reference or for anyone reading this thread later, dehydration is easily detected in blood work. The majority of blood is made up of...

    Internal parasite identification

The little white circles are probably coccidia, which are normal in reptiles, unless there is a lot. The long skinny things may be undigested cricket parts (legs, spine, etc.) I'm not too sure about the big blob things with stuff inside. Very cool though, thanks for sharing the pics! Maybe this...

    If Only...

Lmao! This reminds me of my daughter asking if we could breed the veiled and the Jackson's (both boys btw) and get a veiled chameleon with horns.

Two Types of Umbrella Plants:: BEWARE

So Schefflera arboricola it's dangerous for chameleons?? I've seen it listed on several sites as safe and I've been looking for one for my Jackson's enclosure. I haven't been able to find one, which is the only reason one isn't in there now. Thank you for bringing this to attention.

    Good to big for cage?

I second that it definitely won't hurt, and it's probably better to have one too wide than too short.

So: What Panther species do you really have??

I was wondering the exact same thing when I read that article. I think all, or at least the vast majority, of species (including humans) have different haplogroups. That doesn't make them separate species does it? They are all Furcifer pardalis. Does each location origin count as a subspecies...

    Another Translucent Veiled Thread

Your girl Luna is beautiful! You should be very proud! I haven't found anything giving precise definitions for levels of translucency of veileds, but from what I've gathered from ads and a few sales sites, low and high translucency depends on how white the white parts are, and how much of the...

    feisty Chameleon??

My veiled chameleon is about 5 months old and he's still grumpy. He has made a ton of progress though. At first he gaped and hissed everytime I opened his cage door. Now he's fine with me (but no one else) getting in his cage if I just clean and change the paper and don't get too close to him. I...

Can you tell me what chameleon I have ???

Jackson's keepers - how old is my Jackson's?

I also have a dripper set up for his cage, but he seems to be more scared of than anything. Whenever I turn it on he runs to the opposite side and hides, so lately I haven't been using it at all. Maybe I'll try again when he's a bit older.
