I'm on my phone and cannot quote the health form, so forgive me if I forget something.
Jackson's chameleon, male, approx. 4 months old; I've had him for about 5-6 days. I've only handled him to get him out of the box. I got him from a pet shop, he is supposedly CB.
He eats 6-8 crickets a day; supplement schedule: Ca w/o Vit D twice weekly, Reptivite every other week. Crickets are gutloaded with collard greens and whatever fruit/veggie scraps I have that day.
I mist his cage 5x daily, until leaves are dripping. I have a big dripper, but he's terrified of it. He drinks well from leaves. His poo is normal, 1-2x daily.
He is in a 18x18x36 reptibreeze with a Reptisun 5.0 UVB, 40w basking light. Temps are daytime ambient 70-74, basking 76-79, nighttime 65-68.
He's active and alert and appears to be very healthy.
CURRENT PROBLEM:
He has a small blackish "tag" (don't know what to call it) on the inside of his left rear ankle, just above his foot. I noticed it when I took him from the box when we got home from the pet store. It looks hard, dry and wrinkled, almost like a scab, but it's like a tag that sticks out from his skin. I've included pictures below. I have stayed it with water and tried to brush it off very gently with a qtip but it appears adhered to his skin.
I'm not sure if it's leftover shed, because I've never seen anything like it. The conditions at the pet store are about what you would expect... Glass cage, no temperature monitoring, no humidity. It's not gotten any bigger or smaller this week, and it doesn't appear to be loosening up from his skin. Should I wait for another shed to see if it comes loose? Or maybe apply some mineral oil?
Thanks in advance!
