So we got some weed cloth from home depot and put it in there nice and snug and gave the pot a solid cleaning. Seems like it will work great! The crickets can't get down into the plant any more and it definitely covers up the soil well. Mowgli ate 10 crickets today and then we hand fed him one...
The fertilizer was mixed in with the soil of the plant we bought for him. We considered getting some other soil without fertilizer to cover the other soil, but the rocks and potentially the mesh seem better because they catch crickets and poop more effectively. And we do lightly dust his feeders...
Hey Everyone!
So Mowgli has gotten into this great habit of going down to the bottom of his umbrella plant to snatch up a little piece of fertilizer from the soil. We have some spanish moss over the top of the soil to try and cover it up and deter him, but sometimes he even will go for the...
Glad to hear everything's good! He poops probably once every three days and they look totally normal (HUGE brown part with a nice white and slightly damp urate). He likes to poop on us when we take him out... hah. We got him from epic chameleons in October! We are SOOO happy with how his colors...
Hello everyone,
We noticed that Mowgli's tail was a little swollen towards his rump. I'm not sure if this is normal, but we took a few pictures to try to show it.

Hm. That's interesting. The only problem with that is we're probably going to be camping the whole time. We just feel bad putting him in the mail. It must be pretty stressful. ...not to mention expensive.
Hello there! We will be moving across the country in a few months (by car) and we were wondering the best way to transport a chameleon for an extended car ride. We've been considering doing some sightseeing on the way, so it may be a multi-day drive. Generally, for an hour or two drive we put...
I would just be careful putting more in when they disappear. I had frogs that I did that too and a friend with a gecko who did that and the crickets ended up just hiding and ate the pets. Just words of caution! Really cute chameleon :)
He looks cute! I would make sure to mist whenever possible. I try to shoot for 3-4 times a day or whenever I'm near him. Just to make sure it's humid and he's hydrated. As SaintJimmy said the waterfall is a definite no. Your cam won't drink from it and it's not healthy. They'll only drink from...
Could you post a picture? That would help to see how young he is and if he's hydrated.
The cage is perfect. That's the cage I have for my chameleon (panther). If you could post a picture of that too it would be nice to see what it looks like with all the plants in it.
Regarding humidity, do...
Thanks for the link! I have actually already read that :) His poop has always looked very healthy, and the urates have been white too. So that's a good sign!
That's what I'm hoping. We change the gutload on a regular basis so he doesn't get bored, but maybe we should get him some mealworms or something new.
He looks like he's been getting enough water. With winter here and living in New England, it's hard to keep it humid. I brought him in the...
I cleaned his cage this morning and there was a big poop. It was fairly wet and looked new so I think it was from today. It looked regular and healthy.
We feed our panther chameleon crickets. It's important to change the gutload on a regular basis so they don't get bored of the crickets. Regarding the grasshoppers. I would definitely keep some and gutload them for a few days for the same reason. We gutload with lettuce, greens, carrots, apple...
We recently introduced Mowgli (our panther chameleon, ~6months) to large crickets. A couple weeks ago we decided to give him large crickets, so we've been feeding him about 3 to 4 large crickets and 7 small ones. We put them in a cup in his cage that we made out of a plastic milk container and...
