Ughhhh, can you please share this "access" you have for the 4' bulbs? I would really like to know where you're getting a deal like that. Hook a brother up!
I'm just about done with the construction phase. if you guys don't mind, please take a close look at the details and let me know if there is anything I'm overlooking?
Can you expound a little on the acrylic warping please? I've never worked with acrylic before so I'm not familiar with it's structural properties - especially how they change over time.
The way I designed this thing should prevent water from coming into contact with any of the wood structure...
I rushed the first one and neglected the detail work and as a result paid a steep price in the form of a bad leak that almost ruined my subfloor. That's why I'm so adamant about emphasizing the waterproof component.
It's amazing what you can do when you resolve to do it right. I'm very happy...
None of the wood will actually be in contact with water as the bottom third is acrylic sheets and the upper 2/3 is clear vinyl. I used silicone on the seams and to seal the acrylic. Fuze it adhesive to put the acrylic together. I also used silicone tape to seal the seams after the silicone gel...
I'm about 85% done with Jimmy's new house. I have taken careful measures to make sure this thing is waterproof. I can say with certainty now that I am very happy with how it's going to come out.
I'm thinking 2-3 days for off gasing from all the silicone and Fuze It adhesive. Then decor and the...
This summer, I am going to start a small bee colony and use them as feeders for my guy.....and also pillage them for their honey. Big, fat, juicy bumble bees. What do you guys think of that ??
In one of the pictures he looks like an Ambanja and the others he looks likes an Ambilobe. Kind of hard to tell at this point from where I stand. You should be able to tell more clearly in a month or two though. He's a handsome dude either way!
My boy Jimmy has absolutely no interest in Dubia roaches. This was much to my surprise as I ordered a hundred of them thinking that he would blow throw them in no time. He hasn't eaten a single one. So I've had a hundred roaches that have been living in a bin under my bed now for about two...
I don't supplement with any D3, at all. I use all the Arcadia supplements and lighting. I don't have and have never had any issues. The breeder I got my panther from follows the same protocol with tremendous success. Just throwing that out there.
@JacksJill I was actually planning on making a compartment along the back that will store and hide the cords and keep things generally neat. Great minds think alike!
This will be Jimmy's new home. This home is going to be bulletproof and most importantly WATERPROOF. I rushed the last one and neglected to do a lot of silicone sealing and necessary detail/finish work. The last one I built sprung a leak and almost destroyed my subfloor. This build will be...
AfroJoe666, I don't normally say things like this, but your attitude sucks. Why even reach out for help if you're not going to take into consideration the advice being given? It really sounds like you don't care if your chameleon dies. You're entitled to your opinions on life and how you live...
I'll try to address everyone's curiosity here in one breath. With the sticky trips, if it caught a mouse I would remove it outside as soon as I noticed, say a little prayer for the mouse (so it doesn't suffer) and hit it in the head with a hammer to quickly dispatch it. I hate killing ANYTHING...
Yes I do believe that's the running theory and clearly seems to apply well to this case. I got Jimmy all set up at my friends house. I am so nervous that he won't receive the same standard of care I have been giving him. Jimmy is easily the hardiest chameleon I've ever had though so I think he...
I honestly haven't even bothered asking what the follow up measures to this whole process entail. The feeling I got was that I was going to be paying a fortune for all of this as it's likely to involve some demolition and reconstruction. Holding out high hope that the home owners insurance...
I have a rather grim update. Jimmy is alive and well so rest your laurels regarding that. My house however is not. After this incident the mice presence became rather prolific. We caved and called an exterminator to assess the problem and recommend a solution.
So, these are his words: "In the...
