    Baby cham lifeless

Unfortunately this is a little too late to be asking for help and advise for this one. However, Junglefries is correct. You need to get the husbandry fixed ASAP or the male will quickly join her.

    Chameleon arriving tomorrow!

Pinhead crickets will be too small. I would start with small crickets and go up from there once you know for sure what size he can eat. Make sure that they are properly gut loaded. As for the rest of the diet, Dubias are great as are silk worms. I would also throw in some stick insects horn...

How many chameleons are on CF?

Oh boy. This is going to get out of hand fast if some of the real breeders comment. I have 8 Jackson, 4 Carpets, and 94 Panthers. Those numbers would change significantly if you removed babies from the count, (108)

    Confusion on handling

You mentioned that you removed the lid from his terrarium and he immediately climbs out. What size it the terrarium and what is the terrarium? This is more of a concern than if you handle him a little. For handling, I usually only handle mine to take them outside or bring them back in...

Cat got to my Baby Cham!

I'd kill the cat. The world could do with a whole lot less of them.:)

    Unsafe Wild Bugs

I agree with jajeanpierre. If there are that many bugs, why not set up a cage that allows all the bugs in? Then you wouldn't have to worry about very much at all.

    Noise machine issues

The chameleon will be just fine, but why are your dogs barking? Seems like stoping them would solve a lot of problems for you.

    having another go

Dubia's are a great feeder that is easy to breed. I have a local guy that sells them for cheap if I ever need any to keep my colony going. They are pretty expensive from most major stores, so I would search for a local guy to get them from.

Yep, Tropic Blaze from light your reptiles.

    brand new jackson chameleon

It is usually not a good sign. What are the temps? I find that humidifiers lead to respiratory infections, so I never use them. Do you know if it is captive bred or wild caught? Either way you should have him tested for parasites.

    Chameleon Cantina

It looks interesting and probably could work if the conditions were right. It is a little small for an adult male panther, but juveniles could probably fit nicely.

    New Jackson

Substrate is an interesting issue, but for the sake of simplicity, do not use it. I would use live plants, so obviously they need soil, but apart from the dirt they are planted in, don't add anything. The key with the dirt is to make sure it stays clean and is free from all harmful...

    New Jackson

Welcome to the world of chameleons! I love jacksons and have raised them for many years. They are a little more fragile than Panthers and Veileds, but as long as their set up is good, they will live happy and healthy for many years. Here is what I would do:

    worrisome Fauna BOI

The brown tree snake is a major concern and Hawaii is fighting very hard to keep them out. This is difficult as it is my understanding that they can survive the flight on the landing gear. There most likely are a few, but as far as I know their population hasn't taken off. I have never seen...

    worrisome Fauna BOI

Hawaiians are still super upset about the introduction of the mongoose. "The ecosystem" is in serious trouble all over the world. People protest new housing developments and walmarts all the time. Walmarts have been blocked and parks created here, just FYI. 50 and 6000000000 are about...

    worrisome Fauna BOI

"Native" is a relative term. Many of the animals on Hawaii have evolved over millions of years and are only found there. Most people use the term "Native", in regards to Hawaii, as a description of an animal that got there without the aid of man. Furthermore, just because there are a bunch of...

    worrisome Fauna BOI

The practice described, essentially a chameleon open range ranch, is what lead to the issues in Hawaii. In order to cut down the Jackson population, they had to ban exports. Not sure what Florida is going to do, but I doubt it will be good news for people wanting to keep and breed their...

Male or Female? That is the question...

It looks Female, but it is hard to tell from the pictures. Can you take one of the side profile of the hind quarters with the tail out straight?

    Proper Humidity Level

I wouldn't worry about the humidity levels. Veileds do not need high humidity and chances are your home is already higher than their natural habitat. As long as you ensure that it is getting enough water to drink, then the humidity level is not an issue.

    Night time humidity question

Quad care is quite different from veiled. Quads, like Jacksons, prefer cooler temps with high humidity levels as they are from the tropical mountains. Veileds are from dry, hot, deserts. What is good for one is not necessarily good for the other.
