picky eater
I am having a similar problem. Chance Leon will not eat any more Dubia roaches either. He ate one hand fed and another possibly free range. Now the roaches had babies and I will try less than full grown Dubias.
He will only eat super worms. I can barely get him to take a cricket...
same feeding problem getting worse
So glad you made this post. I am having the same problem with the Dubia roaches. I bought six full size Dubia roaches over a month ago. Chance Leon ate one from the feeding bowl I hold for him. Then he "may" have eaten one free range that same week. Now, no...
It never rains in California
It never rains in California......Well that may be true this year but it does freeze some of the nights in winter in Southern California at any elevation. The beach zones might be the only areas that do not. I have lived all over this state. Snow above 2,500' is not...
Spider Mites
Oh, one thing I forgot. How is your humidity level? And what method of misting are you doing? I seem to remember the Spider Mites liking it dry.
Perhaps in the future give your plants a good washing down regularly after you get rid of them. This may help prevent a return of the...
Spider Mites
No I have not. My experience with the spider mites did not involve my cham. The product you are talking about is for mites on a lizard.
You will be picking the webs and dead mites off the plants after you spray them with the soap solutions. Clean the room your cage is in very...
Spider Mites
I am sorry to say I agree. They do look like spider mites and they do suck the life out of the new growth. Look for a delicate web surrounding the new growth buds on your plant. They love indoor plants.
There are non toxic soap sprays that you can use to remove them. You will...
poop problem/ eating problem
My one year+ Ambilobe Panther did that after eating a whole blueberry that I left for the feeders. Went back to normal next time.
I am trying to vary his diet but all he wants is Super Worms (about 3 every other day) and occasional crickets that free range. He...
Turning a mister into rain dome DIY
Hi Galaxy,
I followed the link here and adapted the directions on a DIY rain dome and it worked out well for me. Simply put, take a plastic cup and drill a hole so the mister will fit tightly into the bottom. Place the cup on top of the screen and maybe a...
Misters
I did a lot of research and decided I wanted the Aquazamp Rain Dome for my A. Panther Cham "Chance Leon". He is well over 12" long with tail.
For one, it is his preference to have drops running down the leaves rather than mist. He does not like to be misted directly. I did hand mist...
great art idea
First let me say I think your art idea is awesome.
I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth after reading your ideas. I too am working out a new cage design. I will probably will go more traditional, but custom size. I am not a welder. I was a carpenter and GC for 25 years and now...
My name
Hi all you Cham keepers,
My name is Chance Leon.
My keeper (or so he thinks) named me because his wife said call him Chance, because that's about all he has in this house. My keepers sister said "how about Leon". I allow him to keep me in a cage because it is safer than running...
using zip ties
Hi Nicolas,
I am an electrician and use zip ties every day, I can understand your pain.
Sorry I was not able to give you this tip earlier and save some of your suffering.
I use pliers of different types and side cutters. The gun can be awkward in tight places.
Good luck, Greg
Thanks for the info Kevin
Thanks Kevin, Your vivarium looks awesome. I will use hot glue or silicone to attach strips to the corners framing it in, leaving most of the screen open for viewing.
Greg
I am always looking for new things to decorate and add climbing space to my vivarium. I recently saw a video with some dark, very coarse cork sheet used to trim a 3" border around the perimeter of the screen sides. I also looks like a good way to mount meters, plants and feeding trays. It gives...
Shelf for drainage system and lights
I liked Supergirl's wire shelf idea and used that. It was a 18" deep x 36" wide x 72" tall wire shelf bakers type rack. You can adjust the shelves by one inch increments. I put my lights and dripper on the top shelf and that keeps them about 2" from the...
Check your wattage when using different size lamps in a florecent fixture
First, I am an electrician and would not recommend modifying any florescent fixture as you negate the UL rating on it. That said, be sure you are using the same lamp wattage as the ballast in it. Good luck
My least costly enclosure
I had a great time looking over many of the enclosure ideas in this forum.
I found "Super girl,s" to be the most practical and least costly for my den/office.
Thanks so much "Super girl".:D Chance Leon is "super" happy now!
So is my wife by the way. I am no longer...
