:p Um, care to share just how i go about doing that? lol You can gently squeeze a cat's upper canines together and they'll open their mouth. I'm thinking it's not he same with wee little chameleons. :D
What alarm bells should ring indicating the cham is not healthy? Dark color (indicating stress), sunken eye turrets can indicate dehydration, bone deformities (MBD) are all signs to look for but what else?
Thank you, Kim
I appreciate that. :) but it was a random picture I ran across while reasearching the possible adoption of these wonderful creatures. If I find it I'll definitely post it.
Thank you, Kim
:confused:I ~think~ I understand that Panther chameleon colors are tied to species named for the locale which have names like Nosy Be and Mitsio. I ~think~ I understand that crosses result in other color combinations. But I'll be darned if I can figure out what Ambilobe and Ambanja have to do...
Big IF! ... I bring a baby cham home from the reptile show in two weeks I have a three hour trip home. Currently it is snowing and will be for the week to come but who the heck knows what's next this crazy season! :( How should I prepare for the return trip in order to reduce stress and assure...
Olimpia - I have that information printed from another source. Those supplies are on my list.
gdude46 - No, I guess I don't know what age. I know I mean very young. And I know young ones need a smaller cage so they can find their prey. Hmmm, I'm not even sure what age they should be before...
Oh! I assumed there would be a huge die-off before I was able to use even half of them.
Well then. I need to think about commitment. I've thought about this on and off for a few years. And there is a reptile show coming up in the Twin Cities. I know I don't have to decide by then but ...
And...
Thank you for this. I had everything on your list on my list. (proud little pat on my back ) ;)
My only other issue aside from the decision to make a commitment to proper care for the lifetime of the animal is a cricket source of an appropriate size for a baby cham. My options locally are...
Is there a checklist of supplies that should be purchased before bringing a chamleon home. (Still deciding) I've read the faqs and gleaned much information but I want to be sure I haven't inadvertantly omitted anything.
Thanks, Kimmers
Thank you so much. I should have added that I also have varied diet information noted. I assumed that crickets were the right size for a baby cham. for some time. I don't really know how big the rest of the recommended foods are except hornworms because I pick the darm things off my tomatos...
I'm gathering info before I make a commitment to bring home a chameleon and have questions about crickets. I understand gutloading and have a list of foods and information about d3 etc. but it's the basic cricket keeping information I need.
For a baby chameleon, how many/size do you feed and...
I just looked at all the pics on both stickied enclosure threads. First, wow a lot of creativity and very clever designs! But I'm curious about misting the screen enclosures that appeared to be in living spaces. How does one control the "over-spray/mist"?
You've all given me a lot to think about and I truly appreciate that. I posted another thread about wanting to keep a cham at work but have learned that that is really not the best scenario for many reasons. So IF I were to decide to have a cham at home instead, I have two questions.
1) I've...
A couple reasons
Basically I would like a living, breathing creature to share my day with. (Co-workers don't count. Creatures don't *itch about anything. ;)) Specifically a chameleon because I have been so capitvated by them for years.
Why at work? I spend more awake time there than home...
