Understandable. My light is raised 4 inches above the screen because of the heat
During my experimenting; before I got my Cham, on the screen temps were up to 110  raised brought it down to 95 and with branches placed below several inches into the 80s I can only hope he doesn't hang upside...
I agree. The 95 is directly 4 inches under where the light is on the screen Further away it drops to 80s plus I have plenty of cover/plants. Also this is a small cage for juveniles. The cage is on the lania faceing the north so it doesn't get direct sun and the anoles are constantly getting in...
Just to let you know I got my replacement today " Eddie" and he seems to be doing fine. He's hideing he's climbing he's alert and now that the lights are off ? I'm trying to not bother him to much. I've only added crickets and hand misted the cage so far.

Thanks, I have a new one on the way. I'm going to call him Eddie
The more I think about it the more I'm convinced it had to have been the stress or treatment during shipping. It's 90 today in the shade so I hope it wasn't sitting in a hot truck.
I'm better today it's just a horrible thing and...
I took the name out. The breeder seems to be a nice guy. I really don't think he's at fault. He even sent me a pic of him before he shipped yesterday. And it was definitely the same chameleon.
I've talked with him since this post and hopefully this was a fluke and I never have to experience...
I sent a picture to the breeder and after I talked to him I had my husband put him in the garden. I asked the breeder if he wanted me to send his body back and he said no it wasn't nessasary.
I'm not going to post a picture. He was almost black, his body was limp, his tongue was partly sticking...
I've just taked to the breeder and he was very sympathetic. He said this has never happened to any of his animals before and is going to replace him.
I'm 57 years old and was so bummed.
My husband said he was on the same branch since leaving the shipping carton. When I saw him he was dark and...
After he went into his cage 4 hrs later when I first checked him he was moving just tuning around basically in the same spot that he'd entered. An hour later he was dead. I am so bummed, it's so sad. He was so tiny
Im so sad. Our 2 1/2 month old chameleon arrived this morning. He seemed fine when I checked on him. Then the next time I checked he was dead. He'd turned black and his tongue was out and not breathing. Totally limp.
Everything was fine temp humidity everything .... I new he was stressed from...
Ive ordered an ultimate cage set up from screameleons and a panther palace from Chameleonsonly/kammaflag But looking ahead for 24x24x48 size and couldn't find any setups only plain cages.
The ports are preset holes for tubing etc. I imagine I can outfit one but for convenience I'd like to...
Thanks
Yes I've been reading and purchased a chameleon handbook I've always had an interest in reptiles but have only owned dogs. My kids are adults now so I now have the ability to pursue my interests. Chameleons are so cool :)
No I haven't but my brother lives up in Tampa so I was thinking of going to that one in June Im looking for a cross female and a fire/red type of male panther
Furcifer Ambilobe
Have you attended any reptile shows either here or in Sarasota? If you have were there any chameleon breeders there? I see Tampa and Sarasota have expos coming up. I've never been to one before but just might now that I've chosen to raise a chameleon :)
