You guys are a rough crowd.:D
There were so many 'moments' with Dr. Stein. Like his explanation of how vets decide how to treat lizards. For those of you not there he made a gesture with his hand and behind.
He was hilarious. I loved Teri (his assistant/front office person) waving...
Thanks Steve and Kevin for all the bugs as always. Thanks Nathan for a place to rest our bugs. A big thanks to Dr. Stein and Teri. It took me months to convince him to come and speak at our meeting as he's very shy. Once he got going he was incredibly informative and hysterical.
And thanks to...
Should be fun and educational. Steve, any chance you'll bring a Parsonii? If you're worried about it being in the car I could bring it here and care for it until the meeting - seriously.
Everyone try to get your questions together before the meeting. At Dr. Greek's Dave and I dominated mainly...
Also get the cactus mix that doesn't contain the little white rock which I presently forget their name. If I can find the bag I'll post it. I looked at quite a few cactus mixes before I found this one.
I had decided a year ago to explore soil the chams could eat and wouldn't harm them. What you have to realize is all this "organic" soil have manure in it and many times chicken manure. This is exactly what we want to avoid.
After searching for months I finally found a cactus mix that...
Good questions. I'm compiling them all and will post answers.
What will blood panels show us and should we regularly get these done for chameleons?
One week to go. Keep the questions coming.
I've been ruminating on this as well. I tend to agree with with Eric. Our newest guy is on a hunger strike. When we got him he was underweight and would eat everything I put in his cage - crickets, silks, supers, dubias, hornworms. And that may have been the problem. I let him eat whatever he...
I agree Julirus. See if he'll respond to other feeders otherwise it might be assist feeding as a temporary solution until he eats on his own. One good thing is he hates you so he probably gaps easily. Try dropping a super or silk worm.
My guys get addicted to supers and will never touch...
I don't have much judgement as your keeper skills sound correct. I can relate that my full grown Veil would go off food for sometimes a week or more to the point I took him to the vet several times. They had no idea. Then he would start to eat again. Then he would stop. He lived for another 4...
Reminder.
In addition to Dr. Stein speaking he has generously donated a raffle prize of a FREE office visit, fecal AND blood work. Members have to be present to be eligible so please plan to attend.
We also will have a photo shoot with Dr. Stein and member chameleons for his records and...
Feed them the leaves. Frans told me the secret. Make sure the leaves are DRY not wet. That's what leads to them dying. Once I started doing that the survival rate is much higher.
Depending on where you live give them a thorough washing to remove pollution, etc.
Thanks Brock. He gets all the proper suppliments. I keep a chart for each Cham and do use Minerall and Vitall as well as no D calcium. That's why its so odd.
He's a He.
He's been offered:
Crickets
Hornworms
Silkworms
Dubias
Superworms
Don't have any more Phoenix worms but he gobbles those instead of chewing and they come out the other end whole.
Ok, I'm stumped. Our newest cham was eating up a storm. Anything he saw he'd eat. Then last week he stopped eating. Then I began to notice he eats the leaves on his ficus.
He has plenty of access to water so its not a water thing. I keep his tree well misted now just in case.
His fecals are...
