July 28th (Tues) South Bay Chameleon Keepers Meeting

If anybody has any clean lids from silkworms that they would like to recycle, we will gladly accept them :D
Every bit that we can recycle helps out the Earth and our chameleons....... can you tell we ran out of lids?

Doh! Just reading this. I have some, at home. Sorry.

Big Thanks to Nathan, our meeting place provider.

You guys can have all of mine. Kevin also ordered a bunch of cups/lids which I will be bringing with me tonight.

I'm gonna need a dolly, to wheel in all the bugs tonight. maybe two. And dropping off 28,000 bugs tomorrow.

Good thing I bought some de-odor rods to keep the cricket odor down.

Just got back home from the meeting.
As usual, awesome awesome event to go.
Thanks to Dr. Stein and his informative session.
Steve and Kevin for the bug run.

Thanks Tylene for the dubia :D
Thank goodness you reminded me about the small dubias (otherwise, I would have forgotten about it).

Thanks, Dave for the hook up with Mr. Necas.
It was fun meeting with all of you guys.

Thanks Steve and Kevin for all the bugs as always. Thanks Nathan for a place to rest our bugs. A big thanks to Dr. Stein and Teri. It took me months to convince him to come and speak at our meeting as he's very shy. Once he got going he was incredibly informative and hysterical.

And thanks to Dave for lending me some extra bug money when I ran out.

I hear HD is having a sale on bricks this weekend.......

OK... Just KIDDING!!!!! Tylene I hope your daughter wasn't too distraught  It was cool to see Steve's half brother, Tylene. He looked pretty sharp.

It was a good meeting.

If people took part in both this meeting and the one at Dr. Greek's, we all learned a LOT from our 'local' vets. A big round of applause to them!

It would be nice to see the pics taken for Dr. Stein... if anyone has a copy of them.

Group Buy  OK OK , I am also just kidding.

I almost fel over when Dr. Stein squirted the eye wash on the ground. I looked right over at Nathans Boss. HAHAHA

one more quote I loved Fr. Dr Stein.

If you don't want to turn your fingers black you can use gloves or your other hand. HAHAHAHHAA :D

The meeting was AWESOME! I learned a lot from Dr. Stein. It was also really nice to see his appreciation for these animals we care for. He looked at them all with amazement. It was great.

I am so thankful to have two great vets so close to us.

It was good seeing everyone. Thanks to Gary, Nathan and Dave and everyone who makes these meetings possible. And thanks for the flash diffuser Nathan. Maybe I can get a decent pic on the forum now. :D

"come on hurry up next month"

Ryan

You guys are a rough crowd.:D

There were so many 'moments' with Dr. Stein. Like his explanation of how vets decide how to treat lizards. For those of you not there he made a gesture with his hand and behind.

He was hilarious. I loved Teri (his assistant/front office person) waving frantically when Dr. Stein would mention the brick or how he lost a few lizards when he started out and so on. It was like a Monty Python sketch (which Teri is a big fan of).

And Ryan was right. It was so refreshing to see a vet look on our animals with amazement and the same joy we have for them. He was like a kid. He told Teri when he left he just had a great time and we were all so nice. He probably liked us because we kept laughing. And we kept him for over an hour past the time we said we would.

What 90% of you didn't see was his arrival. He showed up at 7:30 when there were just a couple of us. He walked in and looked around like a guy thinking he was going to a kegger and accidentally walked into a AA meeting. I got really nervous he was too shy and no one was coming to the meeting. All I could envision was a nervous shy vet mumbling to three attentive members.....

Thankfully it turned out to be the opposite. Thanks again to everyone - Tylene, Ryan, Matt and everyone who generously interrupted their chams sleep to bring them to the meeting for the photo shoot.

Howdy All,

Thanks again to Gary for getting Dr. Stein involved in our meeting :).

As we were heading in the photo session, I told Dr. Stein to turn around and take a look at Kevin's Meller's from across the room. As the Dr's glance landed on the Meller's, Stein let out an audible gasp at the sight of the healthy giant :). I think Stein had a great time seeing so many actually healthy chameleons :D.

Ha! She wasn't too upset about it after I explained why he suggested that vs. suffering. She thought he was pretty funny, especially his comments about pigeons.

It was a great meeting. Thanks for all the bugs everybody. Especially funny was Steve who comes in with a dolly with 1,000s of crickets on it- we had a sound track for the meeting.

Our chams could be twins I think.

Some pictures I took with my iPhone (crap quality)

And here is Henry this morning.... Not stressed. I was glad to see he was in good spirits this morning. I don't take him out much... so a trip to the meeting was a bit more than he is used to.

haha when I got home Steve was pretty out of it.. but I thought it was cute how he was asleep in his shoe box.... he was gripping the paper towels funny and wouldn't let go of them as I tried to coax him onto the branches in his cage....
