I really like the scheffleras but I'd suggest getting two. My little girl loves to eat the young shoots. With two, you can switch between them when one plant gets beaten up. :)
Very nice, I may have to get one of these. I don't even drink nearly enough water myself because it almost tastes like I'm drinking from a swimming pool.
My last veiled never ate greens, but Arya seems to love them. I caught her eating a whole (small) pothos leaf today, and I suspect that she's also snacked on a few young shoots on her schefflera.
I know these plants are mildly toxic, so how much is too much? At what point should I consider...
For shower curtain, to avoid damaging the screen I would use some magnets. They won't stick to the screen so you would need some that you can stick both inside and outside to hold each other up. You should be able to find magnets at home improvement stores, on Amazon, etc.
You could also wrap...
That's fine, just keep a bit away. It's a good idea to keep the chameleon up higher than you so he feels more secure. Watch out for signs of stress like if he keeps his eyes closed, turns dark, puffs up, or hisses. Then you know he wants some alone time.
Enjoy :)
Does anybody have a recommendation of where to buy nice artificial trees for free ranging? I'd really like one that could handle being outside as well, but that's not entirely necessary since it will be a while until it warms up again.
Could you post a pic of it in the cage? It might give some clues.
Could be overwatering, not enough/too much light, a cold draft, or probably other possibilities as well. Notice any bad smell? Have you dug in to see if the roots are rotting?
Seconded. I love my Dragon Strand cage. The plants haven't even grown in yet and I love the way it looks. Plus I don't get water all over my walls and floors. :) They are also making cages with clear sides now if you don't like the white.
Agreed on the above. Most keepers use calcium with D3 twice a month and a reptile multivitamin twice a month. Calcium without D3 should be used for all other feedings. It's possible to overdose them on D3.
I would also suggest removing the black light. Light at night can keep them awake and...
Yeaaah she does not like my phone. That's just what she gets for being a cute little cham. She had herself completely hidden seconds later, "quiet as a shadow".
Thanks guys!
I think the crickets and hornworms are the only things keeping me off the list.
She's a little grumpy (part of the reason she got the name), but I bet she'll be happier with some freedom.
27.8 g and going on 4 months. She looks a little bigger every day, and she's acting like your typical teenager. I can't wait to set up a free range tree for her. :)
Forgive me, I've missed having a cham so much! Haha
Congrats! :D
How much you can handle your chameleon varies from one individual to the next. You'll have to get familiar with your chameleon's behavior (stress coloration etc) so you know when to give them some space.
One thing that worked wonders with my first male veiled was to set up a...
