    Any crafty people?

What about a mini eye screw, if I were to put it in by hand? Do you think I could still damage the inside works if I don't use power tools?

    Why bother breeding?

Thanks. So, I guess you'd be taking a risk when getting an offspring from a WC, seeing as you have no idea of his lineage. The offspring could end up looking nothing like that WC sire.

    L eating with Syringe

My bad, guys. I apologize to all the beginners on this forum. It is absolutely safe and recommended that you force feed your chameleon by pushing the syringe down into their stomachs and expelling the liquid contents into it, in large amounts, as long as you are "gentle." I will start a thread...

    Heating?

I'm no electrician, so I'm very confused... I live in an area where the trend is to "go green." It's all of a sudden taken over, like a fad. All of these energy-saving product seriously have my brain going around in circles. I don't bother with the "reptile" heating bulbs from pet stores that...

    New Panther Chameleon

Definitely true about misting/drying before sleep and the potential for RI. Another potentially helpful tip, is that unless you have your chameleon where he can see outside/natural light can get to him, time doesn't really matter, as long as it's at approx 12 hour intervals. They will adjust...

    L eating with Syringe

I'm not sure where you got the feeling as though we're suggesting you just watch him die... I'm rereading all the posts and I'm not seeing anything that alludes to that attitude, but I'm sorry if you mistook something and interpreted it as such. It's not about how gentle or rough the syringe...

    Moon light

Exactly. Just because their eyes are closed doesn't mean they've entered the deep sleep they require. Yes, there is moonlight in the wild. But are the chams 6" away from the moon? Chameleons have a photosensitive "3rd eye" or partial eye that enables them to sense where light is coming from...

    Moon light

They need complete darkness to sleep, and establishing a consistent sleep cycle is very important for them. The whole, "chams can't see moonlights or red nighttime bulbs" is not true - they can, and they will mess with their sleep cycles. And natural moonlight is totally different from LED...

    Any crafty people?

This thing is like completely solid. There were no spots where I could even sneak a screwdriver in to wiggle anything open. I ended up just having to wrap wire around it, even though it's ugly and I'd rather drill. I'm just not confident that I'll be able to avoid wires and ballast doing so blindly.

    Why bother breeding?

That's unreal. Usually they end up looking like their sire, though? Which has a greater effect on them - sire or maternal grandsire?

Odd Spots On My Jackson, Please Help!

None of them "want" supplements. Technically, if you're gutloading properly and feeding a varied diet, Jackson's should only need to be supplemented once every 4 months or so. However, that's not the case in captivity. If you're feeding them crickets or roaches, which I assume you are, those...

Odd Spots On My Jackson, Please Help!

I would not recommend using a syringe, especially if you're a beginner. It's not as easy as it sounds if you've never done it before. They could easily aspirate and end up with a respiratory infection. Make an appointment with the vet and have some diagnostic tests done to see if there are any...

    Why bother breeding?

As cool as those designer crosses are, I'm not sure I agree with breeding them, from an ethics standpoint. So, if you bred a red with a blue, would some end up being red and some blue, or would you end up with both red and blue in one chameleon? I'm very familiar with genetics, Chi...

    can anyone help me understand

Unfortunately, some chameleons are already sick when you buy them, especially if they aren't cared for properly by ignorant pet stores. It's always recommended that you purchase from a reputable breeder. I would stay away from giving anything with D3 more than twice a month, no matter how...
