    Heating & Chameleons (tutorial)

Jordan, I was responding based on something that I saw on the National Geographic Channel a couple months ago. So its accuracy is not the best. Buccal cavity pressure changes in fish are extremely fast that would not surprise me that they are faster. Anyway they were using high speed...

    Alternate foods

This probably does not apply to chams but it interesting anyway. My wife has a symester left in vet school. And within the last year they have discovered that grapes can cause chronic renal failure in dogs. They have not isolated the chemical yet but have quite a few documented cases.

    Heating & Chameleons (tutorial)

In an attempt to salvage this thread so learrning might take place. Actually the fastest projectile tongue time does not belong to a chameleon it belongs to a Plethodontid Salamander that is native to the Northwestern United States. Its somewhere around double the speed of a chameleons tongue...

    Bad accident

I forget the name of the effect- but the smaller the animal the more like water air is. Thats why smaller animals can make drops from increadible distances and still be fine.

    Just got my Cham

Yeah I was concerned about overduing the UV especially with a little guy with the powersun. I checked out that site before I got the cham- there is vital info on there if you are going to use the powersun bulb. The basking spot is right at 13 inches I had it lower but could not reach temp...

    Pics of Matisse

Yikes I will change that. I saw someone doing something similar on another website. It was a simple solution not the smartest though. The hooks are bent down out of the way the angle and color make them look nastier than they are. I will just make some ziptie loops. Thank you for the comment.

    Just got my Cham

Pics of Matisse So I decided to name him Matisse after the post-impressionist painter. I did not want to agitate him anymore than what I already had- thats why the pic is out of focus.

    Just got my Cham

I just got my male juvenile Sambava yesterday. He is eating and drinking. I have not come up with a name yet. But he has been exporing his enclosure with the upmost curiosity. I added some more cover on his horizontal branch to give some more places to hide from the powersun bulb as...

    Snails?

I still think its a bad idea. They could easily pick something up in the culturing. The bad part is that many of the lifecycles of snail parasites can have intermediate hosts. I don't know of many but there are some parasites of humans can pick up. A parasitite of the Ramshorn Snail for...

What do you make of this...

After a little searching around partial albinism does exist in herps. That boa has it. Whether or not the cham has it is still up for debate.

What do you make of this...

Partial albinism? This is seen in birds but I have never seen or heard of anything like this in herps. They have normal eye pigement etc. Pigeons are notorious for this. It also could be the same thing as the "translucent" that keeps showing up. Just throwing out some ideas.
