i have not gotten him tested and probably should. the branch is a little more than a foot away(near basking) and a foot and a half (ish) right under the bulb. he climbs the screen sometimes too.
so i know i posted once, but i’m going to post again because it is a bit concerning to me. i need to redo my husbandry checklist because we had to do an emergency cage switch recently (he seems to like it more)
so his issue is that he wouldn’t eat out of a cup at all. the crickets ended up...
the first day i had him he ate out of a feeding cup. the issue was that it was clear and he shot at the outside of it. yesterday, i covered it so he would only shoot from the open part. he didn’t feel like eating, but i assumed it was since he pooped the day he ate and didn’t poop yesterday...
i'm glad he’s not the only one then! i keep getting him plants almost every time i go out! i’ve been repotting them with fertilizer free dirt and putting large river stones on top of that.
(he’s behind the misty spot on the front!)
i moved it there so it didn’t hit his (seemingly) favorite...
i also included a pic of the enclosure!! i’ve got another philodendron to hang when he’s a bit more used to home!
sure!! i have a picture from when we got him (when he’s brightest!) he’s been a bit dark (other than feeding) and i think he is just starting to shed!
the third one was from...
Your Chameleon - Male Panther Chameleon. Unknown age but he's estimated 4-5 months. I've only had him a couple days.
Handling - Not handled since he is brand new. Waiting around two weeks to settle in before trying to start to train him.
Feeding - Small-Medium Crickets. I got gut load given with...
I'm not worried about it, but more curious to see if anyone else has experienced it. I chalk it up to stress, since I got him yesterday and he is only around five months old, however, he seems to hate getting wet. He is super startled by it every time the mist king turns on and hides under a...
It's a great start, but I think it's on the smaller side, 24 by 24 by 48 (inches) or 61 by 61 by 122 (centimeters) is the minimum you should do, so if it is not that, then I suggest that you save up for one.
I also think there needs to be a bit more foliage, I would put a hanging one in the...
Lots of chams love outside time! Depending on where you are, you are going to have to be more or less cautious of overheating for him. It's easiest to tell on Panthers, but for him, check for gaping and climbing downward while outside. He also might close his eyes, but that is the last sign of...
So, everything you are doing is correct from the info you gave! There is a lot of help that will be here Monday I assume, since there are people like @Beman and @MissSkittles and @kinyonga that will help tons more than I can. I am not sure why you are covering the cage... Is it for humidity? If...
Two good sources I'd recommend for setups is Neptune the Chameleon and Chameleon Academy is also very helpful. I know that Neptune the Chameleon has a lot of videos on YouTube on how to supplement and gutload correctly. I hope Emi is happy and doing well!
if you are concerned about your cham's sex and are leaning towards female, I would make sure that you have a laying bin set up just in case, but depending on locale, I also think you might have a female!
I also thought female, but if you are really concerned with it, depending on how old you might want to set up a laying bin soon so she can familiarize with it. I have seen some females from different locales that have similar colorations as babies and do have some color in their cheeks that...
(i'm assuming that is a panther chameleon.) It's pretty hard to distinguish whether it is a male or female at such a small age. You'd really need to wait until it is 3-4 months old before the colors will start to come in. A male will have the bright colors, which are dependent on which locale he...
I'm going to get a fogger for sure. I'm also going to check humidity levels at night and make sure it's good (and consistent) before I look into getting a cham.
I'm 100% waiting until after I get settled there to start a vivarium and get it working and ready. I am a first time cham owner and would not want to put a brand new cham under the stress, or any cham, really. I am worried for temperature and keeping plants alive, but I think I can get that...
So I have been looking into getting a cham for a while longer than a year, but have recently started a move to Nevada, Vegas specifically. I will be looking into getting a Jacksons or a Veiled because humidity is really low there and Panthers just need too high humidity for me to be comfortable...
