    Moldy soil?......

I completely agree. In fact, I do lightly fertilize my plants as well. It is good to hear that you have first hand experience with it and no problems. Do you use the organic miracle gro or the "main" stuff? I think some of the stigma against ferts (at least personally speaking) is from...

Live plants dying within a month :( 30$+ on live plants, NEED HELP!!

I lost many plants when I first started too; proper plant growth is all about air:water ratios. Plants in our cham enclosures get a lot of water because of regular misting/etc. As a result, the soil tends to get overwet and soggy preventing good aeration to the roots. To combat this, I use the...

    Plant growth CFL's bulbs

LED is cheaper to run as WhatCamo said, but upfront costs are way more. The $10 bulbs we are talking about are simple CFL's. You can use the CFL as well, if you prefer :) The only real difference is upfront cost vs running cost and bulb lifetime

water wont go down drainage holes?

Can you be a little more clear on how you made this? If you used a PVC Drainage tray that has sides on it, then yes as water builds up it will flow to the drain before it goes up and over the sides. Alternatively, you can place small pieces of FOAM under the outsides of the drip tray so...

    Moldy soil?......

Not really on point, but you are using Miracle Gro? You haven't had any issues with your animals? IIRC, even their "organic" soil has some weird ferts in it no? I have tried using 2 diff brands of soil from Home Depot and they have both gotten infested with gnats (tho i didn't use the miracle...

My chameleon has just spewed a few mins ago!

....you need to fill out the form that we have linked twice now....I would also attach a picture of the stuck poop and what his feces look like. Is he trying to continue pooping and can't? Are you sure it isn't a sperm plug? Here it is again; just copy and paste it (or "quote" my post) and...

New UVB Bulb Cham wont bask?

My immediate guess would be that you effectively increased the light/UVB output by 30%. Before he was probably sitting out to "get enough" and maybe now he is hiding cause there is "too much"? Just a thought....see if his behavior changes if you elevate the bulb more (assuming this is possible)...

My chameleon has just spewed a few mins ago!

@Speedmast: we need to know this information to give you the most accurate response, please fill it out as specific/accurately as you can: Chameleon Info: Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Handling - How often do you handle your...

Is it good enough with my lighting?

No. UVA is a different part of the UV-spectrum (there is also UVB and UVC). A visual might help, see here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8a/Electromagnetic-Spectrum.png/395px-Electromagnetic-Spectrum.png You need a UVB bulb for proper uv exposure (UVB is the particular...

    HPS Light

@alexonti $9 for the bulb+fixture is a good deal. 5.0 UVB + Basking bulb = perfect for cham 6500K bulb = perfect for plants everyone is happy with lights :)

    Plant growth CFL's bulbs

no, it is not dangerous. you simply want it to be as close to 6500K as you can find for "ideal" plant growth. other color temps will work too, just not be as good. @Draco: 5000K is ok and actually the closest I have found at my local HD. I get 6500K from my industrial lighting supplier...

My chameleon has just spewed a few mins ago!

I would fill out the form ASAP. Did you feed him something right when he threw up? Or did he just throw up on his own, long after feeding?

Is it good enough with my lighting?

I am not familiar with that bulb; can you link specs to it? It also outputs heat? Most users use a 5.0 UVB bulb and a basic incandescent for basking You do not need a separate UVA and UVB bulb. You need a UVB bulb and a separate heat/basking bulb (I suggest a simple cheap incandescent...

    HPS Light

HPS lights do put out UVB to the best of my knowledge, but unless you have a solarmeter and can measure the outputs, it is not appropriate to be used in a "blind guess" technique. Unless you have a solarmeter (and are willing to change out that expensive HPS bulb when the UV output drops...

    Plant growth CFL's bulbs

I would not buy that bulb online because you don't know the color temperature. As WhatCamo said, you can get them way cheaper at walmart/home depot anyway ($10 is kinda pricy). Just buy the one that is closest to 6500K ("daylight"). As for how "much" light, it depends on how much plant life...

    Lighting

Hey Sam, A few points to respond.... 1) I believe the 25 is equivalent to a 2.0 (or rather "2.5" technically). So you are doing fine, probably a little too low, on the UVB. 2) However, since you have been using 2 UVB bulbs, you are likely ok. 3) In case you are not aware, the UVB bulbs need...

    Lighting Question Radion light

OK I looked at the specs on that light....few things: 1) It uses CREE XP-G LEDs. Very good LEDS (I use these and the newer XM-L in my LED units). These are good LEDs, but.. 2) It uses only a few cool white and mostly blue and green LEDs. Blue will be helpful for photosynthesis, but green...
