i just throw branches into the cage... sometimes i will whittle off the bark and let them sit in the sun to dry completely. but if its a dry stick, i think this baking and bleaching stuff may be overrated.

Can someone please explain what exactly heat tape is? Ran a search for it at homedepot.com and got nothing. Interested in looking into this as another option for heating some dubia bins over the winter. Thanks.

X2... this is one of the simplest, and probably most effective, ways to deal with this problem. you'd be hard pressed to make any kind of meaningful difference when dealing with a "big box" store such at pestco/petsmart by trying to enlighten them on proper care of these animals. Big box corps...
