Sort of... but depends on your setup!
I have found that with proper drainage it will grow very well (generally add a little sand to your mixture of soil) but the biggest limiting factor is the availability of good light! Most enclosures will not have enough light of the right spectrum to...
Glad my build was of use! :D
I first treat my wood with teak oil (1 coat - maybe 2 if you want a bit more colour in the wood) then I use yacht varnish (minimum 2 coats plus top up) to waterproof it. This stuff is incredible but does need to air for a few days!
Thanks for the comments! I can't wait for it to grow in some more!
Why not? :D
If you are considering it, here is a previous guide I made that can be downloaded! :D https://www.chameleonforums.com/my-build-guide-everyones-use-38695/
I would love to build them to make some money on the...
If I had a £ every time my Veiled got grumpy, I would be loaded!
He used to be 'alright' but in his old age he must literally detest me! :( As soon as I enter the room he slinks away to wait for me to leave and will only venture out if I have waxworms! Then he'll stay out for a bit, but still...
I have not, but that is hilarious! I don't even know what they're implying with that name! :P I'm just going to start making up my own words at that rate!
I haven't tot'd it up properly yet, but something in the region of:
Wood (frame): £30
Wood (base): £40
Mesh: £50
Varnish: £10
Screws/hings/latches/handles: £15
Compost: £10
Plants: £15 (only because I had some lying around)
Lighting: £30
Other: £20 (general stuff)
TOTAL: £220 which...
Firstly, I must apologise for anybody who see this and wants it, as its mine and you can't have it! :P
Anyway, as many of you will know, I've been making my latest (and greatest) enclosure for my panther chameleon Nero and I am proud to announce it is finally finish (building it in place took...
Is that the green plasticy stuff? Does it work well? I just like to use the aluminium stuff (even though it ius considerably more expensive!)
Cool! Let's hope to get some support!
Also, I've put a thread in the 'feedback/suggestions' part of the forum to get a mim-UK section, so some support may speed it along: https://www.chameleonforums.com/possible-get-uk-section-91109/#post851967
Right, finally spoke to the guy at the mesh company and they do indeed still do the epoxy coated black mesh and it is the same price as the normal aluminium mesh they have on the website.
You just need to ring them to order it! Standard postage is £7.50 but next day courier was £10, so I will...
You're welcome!
I think if I did a guide of my second build it would have been better, but I will do one for my third build (although, I used a few different techniques that may not be to everyones tastes/skills). Maybe I'll combine all 3 into one seemless guide! {might take a while though...
If this is the case, you will need a serious seaant/paint to make sure it is safe. A large number of coats of yaxht varnish i presume would do the trick, but maybe some kind of epoxy sealant (which can waterproof practically anything) may be a better way forward!
I struggled to follow your...
Right, here is my basic idea (with cost saving in mind! :D)
Basically, use the two large side peices to give you the structure of the unit fixed in place to the base piece and a frame top (with screen stapled to it - or joined however you want). This will give you the basic shape and give...
Someone needs to use the search function...

Well, given that I am coming close to finishing my new enclosure, I need to build a new light unit for it.
The general plan was to have a 4' UV tube, 3 plant growth compact bulbs and a halogen spot light for basking.
And without further hassle, here it is (apologies about the pictures...
