I always go for the epoxy coated aluminium stuff (but it's an off website special! :P) I'm waiting for a call tomorrow to get a price, but it'll be around £40 including postage for the 6m I need {I think - we'll see what inflation has done to the price}.
This is the base stuff anyway...
The only person I know who might (or could point you in the right direction) is a guy called Ben (cham25 on captivebredreptileforums http://www.captivebredreptileforums.co.uk/members/cham25/ - I got my Diego Suarez from him) but if I remember rightly, I think he was moving to Australia! :(...
As Miss Lily said, www.themeshcompany.com are by far the best and cheapest supplier in the UK. I've actually just spoken to them as I need to get myself some more black epoxy coated stuff as it isn't listed on the website any more and the girl I spoke to said the guy I want was on holiday today...
Just upgraded myself to an RO system so use RO water now.
Also, someone said it is better to stop the nozzles 'clogging' and I would agree. The noise made by the nozzles with RO water is much less (sounds stupid, but I can just hear the difference) which I can only presume is because it has...
I just can't wait to get it finished! I went to complete the enclosure today but I was short on aluminium screen, so I couldn't! I was so gutted! Now I've got to wait a few days to get it delivered (not having anywhere to source it easily in the UK) so it won't be ready until next week...
Well, the enclosure is now varnished (well, it was last night at 2am... I just wanted to get it finished) so I doubt I will be able to build it now until midweek (to allow the varnish to fully dry). Never mind, only a few more days! :D
Someone didn't use the search function! :P
Here's my thread about it: https://www.chameleonforums.com/building-tree-89837/
Give me a shout if you have any questions! I do have a lot more pics than are in the above thread, but my computer is having a mare (currently on my laptop) so I can't get...
There are 2 keys things as far as I am concerned:
1 - plenty of light (plus, making sure it is the right kind of light - daylight bulbs are the best)
2 - not too much water
It takes a while to find the right balance, but you will get there eventually. Also, using plants that do well with very...
That would be a good size indeed, although, if you're making it, make it as big as you can! :D
Mine are 2.5' x 4' x 7' (0.7m x 1.2m x 2.0m) as that allows me to fit 2 identical cages in the room! :D
It's terrible though, I get in from work, sit down/relax a bit, then start doing bits around 23:00 until 01:00 then wake up the next morning thinking I'm really tired for some reason! :P
Tomorrow will be the day it comes down and the final steps get under way! :D
Then, the next project...
Thank you both very much!
I promised myself that I would leave it alone today, but I really couldn't! lol!
I put the final 'small branches' in today, using a slightly different method that involved cutting smaller holes and gluing nails into the branches so they could be hammered into...
You need a LOT of light to keep hibi's inside! Talking serious lumen to keep it healthy! I tried once and failed! Resulted to the standard classics (pothos/umbrella/ficus).
That would pretty much be ideal! I could also fix stuff to the feet of it to give a greater surface area of each of the feet! Good work - rep coming your way! :D
Well, here we are! Updated photo's of the almost finished trees!
I only want to put a few more small branches in here and there, but other than those, I am really pleased with how in turned out (well, excluding the string!)
And a close up of one of the joints...
You should see it at the moment! So many more branches! I literally can't wait to get it finished. It's going to be so down-heartening to take it apart (as I still need to varnish the enclosure it self and add the mesh etc), but rebuilding it again will be fun!
I need to make sure I label the...
