I have a 1 1/2 year old blue bar in a 2x2x4 foot cage...he still climbs out onto our hands when we open the cage. I think it's just the excitement of getting out. Plus he knows he's either getting fed, going on his free range, or going in the shower so I guess I don't blame him for wanting out. :)
We got a blue bar ambilobe for our first chameleon and I love him! He's so laid back. He's actually my first reptile and I'm not a big lizard person, but he stole my heart. It's hard to tell you that all panthers are friendly because every one is different, but they tend to be more laid back...
I don't see a pic...also I noticed you are using a 100 watt bulb. I think that's too much especially for a juvenile, and some of the other members may agree. The basking area should be about 85 for most chams. If it's too hot, you risk him burning himself. My panther hates misting time too. He...
The baby chams love hanging upside down directly under the light, but if your light is directly on the screen, he can burn himself doing this. One of the other members said they put tape around the cage at the top right where the 4 sides meet the top. The tape is slippery and he can't grip it to...
When we first got my panther, he was green. We got him when he was 1 year old. He never fired up and was a brownish color during the day. I was really worried since he was our first chameleon. We decided to use repashy superpig to supplement since it's a pigment enhancer. We started using in...
We have a monsoon mister and I'm still too nervous to set the timer. I've heard nightmares where people come home to a flooded room because the mister doesn't turn off! I usually mist 4 times a day...Don't really have a specific schedule, I make sure the cage is dry before misting again. I would...
That's a very good sign that he went right to sleep after the lights turned off. As far as being at the bottom, he's probably just getting used to everything. His whole world changed. Just give him some time and try not handling him for a few days. It's normal for them to be scared and acting...
I go with sun up/sun down. I have my lights on a timer as close as sun up and sun down as I could get. The timer is a life saver! If you aren't home, the lights will turn on and off, plus it'll keep your cham on a schedule and they are relatively inexpensive at petsmart.
For my panther I usually mist 4 times a day...I always make sure the cage is dry before misting again. I also feed him super worms and he LOVES them. They are high in fat, so they aren't the best feeder, but it's good to have variety for them. Good luck :)
From what I've heard, panthers can be more laid back than veileds. I love my panther! I'm so glad we waited and got him. My boyfriend was so tempted just to get a veiled from the pet store because it was so much more convenient and less expensive.
How long have you had him? It's normal for them to be skittish when you first get them. They have to get used to their new surroundings. Never grab them. Once he gets more comfortable, you can try holding your hand out to him and see if he climbs on you. My biggest fear was mine biting me. He...
Chances are your cham is still stressed from the transition. It usually takes them time to get used to their new surroundings. I would try not to handle him during this time. The only interaction he should have with you for right now is feeding and misting the cage. As far as meal worms and...
All of these questions depend on which type of chameleon you are looking to get. The best thing to do is research as much as possible to figure out which would be best for you...As far as transportation, Chams can get very stressed in the car. Some people get a shoe box, punch some holes in the...
Maybe try taking an empty cup and place one at a time and let him watch you put the cricket in there, if he eats it, put another in there...He probably just doesn't know what to do with the cup. :)
Thank you :) What I mean by getting burnt is the babies will climb onto the screen, and hang upside down directly under the bulb. Not too sure why, but they aren't very smart. lol. The rest of the cage looks really good though, he has lots of places to hide and climb. Another member had...
