Oops.... just thought of something: since it's bioactive that means I have springtails and isopods down there. Do you think they will be attracted to the pitcher plant and it will wipe out my bioactive critters?
OK, a small one is worth a try to see how it does. Since I have a bioactive substrate and a hybrid enclosure (some glass, some mesh) it might do quite well in there. I also have a plant light that I shine just on the bottom so it will get plenty of light if it wants it. Thanks!

I really did do a search before I posted the question, truly I did! For some reason I only got about 3 hits - not nearly as many as the link you provided. Maybe I spelled it wrong? Thanks for sharing.

Here's what I have in my cart but I won't finalize it until I hear feedback.
Phoenix worms? Haven't heard anyone mention those but they sound GREAT for a young chameleon!
The spikes are Blue bottle fly larvae - are those safe / beneficial?

This guy/gal is rather young and small.... I think most foods would be too big for it. I did see some wingless fruitflies at the store.... do you put those in a dish, too?
Sue
Ahhhhhh, very good point about her trying to eat the plant. These would be in the bioactive substrate and I never ever see her down there but why risk it. Thanks for the reminder!
Sue
Thanks. There probably are some in my batch that might be too large so I'll just pick out the very small crickets that I received in the mail yesterday.

Hi Brad.
Veiled chameleon.... 2-3 months old. I realize mealworms are only to be used occasionally so that's why I'm concerned. Do I stop offering them and hope she takes to the crickets soon? How long do I let her go without eating?
Sue
I raised some carnivorous plants several years ago just because I thought it would be fun and fascinating. Actually, it ended up to be quite boring. But now that I have a chameleon and a bioactive bottom I'm wondering if I could/should add a few to the habitat? I'm thinking it might keep...
I've set up a feeding dish for my new chammy (feeder from Etsy arriving this week) and I've kept small, coated crickets in there for two days but he/she won't touch them even though he/she sees them. Out of desperation and fear of starvation I threw some mealworms in the dish this morning and...
Good idea.... I'll take out two of the four tubes and block the openings where those were. Not enough room in there with all four tubes and harder to clean the cricket carrier.
I like it! But why bother with the solo cup....couldn't you go right from toilet paper tube into shaker cup, and then out of the shaker cup into the chammy's feeder? And where does one get a shaker cup like that - I shall try Googling it. :)

P.S. Wow - found it - it's amazing how many...
Hi. Looking for the easiest, most efficient way to feed my veiled. I have the crickets in a Cricket Keeper (the enclosure that has four black tubes that the crickets are supposed to want to hide in and sometimes there's a few in there, sometimes the tubes are empty and sometimes there are TOO...
Veiled cham, had him/her for 10 days now and was told it was about 2 months old when I purchased it. What do you think - too soon to tell for sure? I feel like I should plan a gender-reveal party! 😊

I just spent the morning trying to find appropriate stuff to glue under the homemade one so it's elevated off the screen but not so high that it will topple over if something bumps it. This hobby sure does come with interesting challenges!
