I am keeping an eye out for an older (i.e. not baby) Sambava female to possibly introduce to my 16 month old male. Would prefer an adult, or at least one 5-6 months old (would not consider breeding before she's at least a year).
I might worry about the cricket size - "medium" can mean a lot of different things depending on where you're purchasing them from, and I would normally give "small" (not pinhead) to a 3 month old - at any rate, you want the crickets to be no longer than the space between his eyes.
Will he eat...
I have had a croton in the house in moderate to low light for four or five months, and it's doing fine. These plants have an irritant latex; I would not put one in with a cham who is liable to munch on plants. That said, my guy snuck across the room and was found lurking on my croton without...
I have a "big cat" collection of herps going - panther chameleon, leopard gecko, tiger salamander... The leopard gecko is obviously named for his spots, and the tiger salamander for her stripes, but, yeah, the "panther" is a little iffy. They tend to be a little more stripy than either spotty or...
I equate that inflating-in-the-sun with their attempting to be a solar panel - maximize the sunlight that hits them. I've also often seen panthers 1) get much darker during the earlier part of their bask (darker colors absorb light; help warm up) and 2) keep tilting to maximize sun exposure...
The PowerSun mercury halide is a UV-B, and also provides heat. It's the only thing I've ever used on my chams (except babies and pygmies, which get the linear Repti-Suns due to space constraint in the smaller cages which would lead to unacceptable heat build-up with the halide. The halides are...
They're both nice; I think I do like the new one a little better, if only because it's something new and different, and I've seen the old one many times.
The brightly colored plant (Croton) can cause vomiting if ingested. It was not intended as part of his habitat and, indeed, it took me awhile to figure out how he found his way into it. It has since been placed somewhere less accessible.
