Photos of Peaches sunning and eating a dragonfly

So today Peaches, my 6 month old female blue bar Ambilobe was sunning. She saw a dragonfly and snatched it really quickly. Took her awhile to eat. Its kind of hard to see, but in the last photo, you see a wing sticking out of her mouth. :p

I also realized something. Whenever I take any chameleon outside and they walk into the sunlight, they inflate and fire up. I thought this was to scare off any possible predators, but I noticed they ONLY do it when they're in the direct sunlight. While they do this, they tilt their body, as seen below when Peaches was getting sun. I think they're inflating so they get more sunlight. Just thought i'd share that. :p

Anyway, here are the photos. They're old iphone quality so bear with me.

What a pretty girl you have, seems she likes the sunshine. Lucky cham, sunshine is just a dream for my chams.:(

I equate that inflating-in-the-sun with their attempting to be a solar panel - maximize the sunlight that hits them. I've also often seen panthers 1) get much darker during the earlier part of their bask (darker colors absorb light; help warm up) and 2) keep tilting to maximize sun exposure, such that on several occasions I've observed the animal slo-o-owly tip over as he keeps tilting his body.
Peaches is pretty!

She's a 'beaut! :) Here in Portland, the sun comes out just a few months a year - so alas, my chams will have to wait til next summer....

aweee shes a cutie pie! :)
Thanks! :)

Thanks! Both her and Waldo LOVE the sunshine. At first I thought they hated it because they would always fire up, but I realized its to get more sun. :p
Peaches is a beautiful female. My guys always show their best colors when outside.
Thanks! :) Their colors are incomparable to when they're inside.

Thanks! I actually kinda wish we had real seasons here! The sun can get tiring all year round! Of course the chams love it, though. :p
