I watched your story and told my friends about it.
I had lost my veiled overnight and found him on a bush the next day.
I'll let everyone know that you found him!!!!
So happy for you.
Misting with tepid to cool water will lower the temp in the enclosure. A mesh cage will allow air movement. Do you have a fan you can put on low, pointing away from the cham but circulating air? Good luck with your temp problem.
Amy is photogenic!
Amy's photos at your link are inspiring. The eye maintenance film was fun to watch, the pole dancing Amy was hilarious. I will now teach Limey to drink from an eyedropper, the patience and her trust for you are such a testimony to your care with her. Thanks for the photos!
Compassion led you to rescue the cham and also led you to end the cham's suffering. Your experience has given us all a reminder to help others when we have the chance. That little chameleon would still be suffering if you hadn't saved him.
I thought kindergarteners on a playground were cute but your babies beat them, hands down. They look super healthy! Congratulations on your husbandry skills!
You know you're coo-coo for chameleons when you make yourself wait in a conversation before asking if anybody has mulberry trees.
... when everyone at the party stops talking to find out why anyone would want an animal that hides from you and doesn't really want your attention, except when...
mist queen = me
Limey lives in the foothills, it's warm/hot and windy outside. I moisten him and his foliage with a hand mister every half hour or hour. The outside cage is an eighteen inch screen cube, I have him on a card table I can move around outside. I watch him quite a bit, I'm fortunate...
Fun outside
Limey (6 mo old veiled) has a cage inside with a mist king (recommend highly, wonderful mister)and a cage outside with the mist queen, me. If I am staying home, Limey gets to stay outside. I check him every half hour, mist, or watch him. I put his crickets in his outside cage early...
I use a dark purple heat lamp at night because the temp is so low in our home at night. The light is dark and I have it on a dimmer at the lowest setting. I direct it to the opposite side of the cage from my 5 mo. old veiled. This keeps him at 62 degrees F. I also had to do this when we were in...
I will have his crate semi surrounded with foam or bubble wrap, maybe next to me on the seat would be better?
Thanks again. I don't travel a lot but this is a special trip for other family members.
I searched travel and read through what happened here two weeks ago. There was some good advice there and here in this thread. Thank you to everyone for the concern and comments. Limey will be asleep on the floor near my feet. He'll wake up in his cage. I'm new, I should have searched before...
Poor little guy! It will be 4 days, three nights. I thought the smaller crate would help him feel safe, I can make a bigger one! How does that sound.
I will make his life as cushy as possible. He's used to me being around him, I've been watching him and misting and picking up messes in his cage and watching and visiting many times a day. He lives in the hub of our lives (three adults, someone is always home). I must take him with us or I must...
