So i feel like a terrible parent because of the delay i have put on charlies vet visit due to lack of money, but i finally got another job last week and finally have money so ill be on my way today, he was bleeding from his vent last month and i thought he rubbed it on something and cut it so i decided to see if it would heal on its own with the aid of my care, it stopped for about a month and a half and started up yesterday so i cant wait anylonger, i also think he might have an RI but that i am not 100% on. Wish me luck :(

Matt don't look backwards, we are looking at what you are doing, you are taking Charlie to the vet and we just want him to be ok. Stay positive and let me know how it goes. Good luck Charlie.

Those vet visits are tough man. I understand why you tried to do it on your own. My exotic vet around hear charges 150.00 just to walk in the door. Like Laurie said you are doing the rite thing man, best of luck matt

so guys i took him today, the vet said he is a very healthy and beautiful chameleon haha cost me a wooping 128 bucks but im glad to know he is healthy, i have to return with some fecal samples to test for parasites to see if that was the cause of the bleeding but other than that he is completley fine!

That is terrific news! Consider it money well spent -- now you know everything is fine and you can stop worrying.

yayyyyyyyyyyyy!!! that's good to hear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what else could you do with $128???? oh, i guess there's always crickets, worms. dust, etc.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well,,, you did the right thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

That price is outrageous! One vet I go to charges $45 for a visit and the other charges $50. They are both exotics vets but the second one is a specialist. When I had Molly I brought her down to the specialist and got an exam, bacteria culture, dewormer, and medication for $125! And the great thing is that all proceeds benefit the New England Wildlife center, which is where it is.

well it was 82 for the visit and 40 for this liquid i have to put his poop in untill i can bring it back to the vet :\ a little much for a litle bottle i think but hey better to be safe than sorry

Oh so I guess you went to the Odd Pet Vet! He'll be my vet too if I ever need one, or decide to go for a check up or something. He also was my vet about 12 or so years ago when I had my first cham. It's good to know he doesn't charge an arm and a leg!

I'm assuming you went to the Links? Don't worry.. that price is only for the first visit.. it's cheaper for follow-ups.

Glad to hear he's okay and hopefully his fecals come back normal!

Yes, Dr. Gregory Mertz is very good. He did great with Molly and knew how to handle her, it was too bad that she didn't make it. I am hoping to get in touch with him this summer about studying Timber Rattlesnakes.
