Buying Crickets in Winter - Will They Survive?

Haha the 45 minutes is only on a good day - it is actually quite a funny story as to how this chameleon came about. I had previously owned 5 chameleons (2 Comoros Island dwarfs, 2 panthers, and a veiled) about 6 years ago. I moved away for university and got rid of them all because I did not...

Buying Crickets in Winter - Will They Survive?

Thanks for the ideas - I could get them shipped, but I only need probably 100 a week max, so buying that many would probably turn wasteful/take up too much space in my tiny apartment

Buying Crickets in Winter - Will They Survive?

Hi Everyone: So it just struck me that the closest pet store to buy crix at is about a 45 minute bus ride. Here in Halifax, it is not uncommon for the temps to get to around -10C or even colder. Can the crix survive for 45 minute bus ride home in that weather (lets say a 15 minute wait in...

Anyone from Halifax, NS on the forums?

Hi Everyone: I was just wondering if there are any fellow cham owners here in Halifax? It would be great to talk with and meet some people who share the cham bug :)

How to collect misting water/dripper water?

I am struggling right now to find an effective way to manage the water in my enclosure. I use paper towels that I change out daily to soak up misting water and a container that the dripper drips into that I empty at night as well. Are there any other methods besides a drainage system that...

I noticed Andrew will sometimes pass fecal waste without urate. Is this normal? I know it is a weird question but I think its worth knowing

    Please Post Resting Ambilobe Pics

My overnights are between about 70 and during the day the ambient stays steady at about 75. I just use a cheap thermometer (not a gun). Like I said he is pretty active during the day and lightens up a bit but generally is darker than I think he should be - I'll hopefully be able to snap a few...

    Please Post Resting Ambilobe Pics

I just bought him about a week ago and I know it takes time for them to adjust, I just want to make sure its not something worse. I notice it way more in the morning, and he does roam the cage so I am thinking perhaps it is just stress - but as everyone can relate, I just want the little man...

Also - there is construction happening on my building for the next 6 weeks which creates a good amount of noise throughout the day - would this cause stress?

    Please Post Resting Ambilobe Pics

Hi Everyone: We have a recently purchased Ambilobe male (about 7 months) and are having trouble determining if he is darker than he should be (stressed or cold). The basking spot is at 85-90 so we are thinking possibly stressed, however it is possible the colours are just his normal resting...

    Just joined

Welcome - I am pretty new here also. I on my 6th chameleon but there is always something new and interesting going on. It is a decent amount of work to care for a chameleon properly, but the rewards are great :)
