Get used to analyzing your chameleon's poop.
Chameleons are so good at hiding it when they are unhealthy that your first sign of trouble is usually their poop not looking right.
SO many chameleon owners on this forum have posted pictures of both healthy and unhealthy looking poop. I'm...
Just to clarify...
The "Bottom" of your cage is really just the top of the stand, to which you've drilled a hole and installed the drain? You basically just have the screen cage sitting on top of the stand, with no bottom?
My chameleon Rygel has used his tail to catch himself from falling a few times... he has underdeveloped claws so once in awhile he's slipped.
As a result, he's strained his tail a bit and it has tiny crimps in it, but nothing as obviously bent as the your picture. I'd probably take it to a...
Okay, I just got back from the vet's.
He didn't find anything obviously wrong with him. No injuries as far as he could tell, and other than his weakness he looks very healthy.
Blood-work showed that he's likely going through kidney failure. He's sending some additional samples to another...
Check the temp in his basking spot to make sure it's not hot enough to burn. However it doesn't look like a burn to me. If it was a burn you'd be seeing some black in the middle of all of that white.
Well Rygel pulled through and made it through the night. He's much better this morning. He's opening his eyes now, and while he's still acting very lethargic, he's climbing onto his branches. He hasn't accepted food, and I don't think he's eaten for a couple days now, but that's not horribly...
I think I'm going to lose my little guy.
He had a little eye infection back in September, which cleared up no problem thanks to some help people posted.
Now, however, I have no idea. He's going to the vet first thing tomorrow morning, no doubt about it. I think this post is more for me...
King Julien, thanks for pointing me to your thread.
I've gotten some saline eye wash, and I washed his eye out today. It inflated slightly but afterwards I could tell he still had a little bit in there. I think it might just take some practice on my part in terms of how to get it in his eye...
I'd love to prevent his falling if I could. My next step is to basically make a "Safety net" in his cage. He doesn't fall from grabbing onto the screen, he falls just climbing around on his branches.
Since his claws aren't well developed, he doesn't have a lot of friction with his feet...

Jacksons chameleons are some of the "friendliest" chameleons I've owned, and they seem to really acclimate well to people. My Jacksons would come down from his basking spot to the door of the cage whenever I got home from work so that I could hand feed him. He'd start moving as soon as I...
I was just browsing some pictures on here and suddenly I noticed that my Panther's eyes seem to be a little "puffy" in comparison to some other pictures of chameleon eyes, and even to some pictures I have of him when he was younger. I definitely have not noticed any SUDDEN changes in his eyes...
From the age of 3 months to about 9 months, my Panther readily handfed just about anything. It was always great fun to handfeed him worms or crickets. Unfortunately as we all know, they get more territorial and a bit less friendly as they get older.
My little guy went off crickets...
First off, your guy has really gorgeous stress colors, just don't piss him off that often!
Don't take my word for this. I don't have any ready pictures available on this and I'm going off memory. My Jacksons chameleon I seem to remember having a dark blue / black tip to his tongue. I THINK...
When I was moving into our new house last year, I VERY TEMPORARILY put my Panther in the "Cricket Cage". You know those little plastic things in pet stores that have the tubes for the crickets to crawl in.
It was only to transport him from the apartment to the new house, and keep him in...
