Well looks like I’m keeping only my lateralis outdoors and once it turns fall I’ll switch to my Jackson’s. I wouldn’t say it’s a swamp most days are pretty dry at least where I’m at and the new house is right under some large trees that provide lots of shade plus we have a small shaded porch I...
I’m not sure about reptizoo lighting what people use is zoomed or Arcadia those are the bulbs people use that are reliable usually if you wanna use a different uvb bulb and fixture you need a solameter to make sure your uvi is at a good level
At this point they are high 60s to mid 70s but for some reason in indiana it’s more spring than summer right now but after moving in July it usually goes into the high 70s to low 80s some nights what will be nice is the humidity rise especially from having a pool nearby tonight it’s almost 80...
I’m not worried about the lateralis as I understand they are essentially bulletproof as long as I don’t let them dehydrate or get too much sun exposer but I’d love to get my Jackson’s and hoehnelii some sun time to really show off those colors I know they have I’ve seen some misters advertised...
Oh I’d also like to ask if I he dragon ledges would act as a heat sink as well since I’m planning on using my old indoor screen cages and just adding a soil floor and drilling them onto planter boxes with wheels and then adding some cool vining and flowering plants in there with only the front...
Usually most breeders raise babies in smaller cages with the uvb and plant light providing the warmer temperatures babies usually live closer to the ground(depends on species) then adults and so it makes sense they don’t get as warm as adults as well as them being so fragile and dehydrating...
Try a feeder run cup my Jackson’s loved his when I used it you can get one on full throttle feeders, sunset chameleons, tk chameleons has a shooting gallery attached to the screen or you can diy one chameleon academy has a video on YouTube on how to do it cheap. I will add Ive never gotten one...
A good bulb that’s reptile branded is the exoterra white daylight bulb or a weak Arcadia halogen or Arcadia floodlight to start off with Id recommend going lower power especially because in a small cage heat will kill a lizard fast if they can’t escape
I’m going to be using soil floors and patio misters as well as dense foleage but I’m worried that all that still won’t bring temperatures 20 degrees lower
I’m moving at the end of June and should be fully set up before July starts but what REALLY excited me about the new home is a backyard with shaded areas and a pool which means I can keep chameleons outdoors for short periods of time and the pool will add humidity but how do I lower temps during...
You don’t have to blend ALL of it together but you give them as much as they will eat at once what I like to do is seperate what I will feed the day before feeding them to my lizards and gutload them away from the others and offer as much variety in fresh veggies as I can
I wouldn’t get these if cuz they are spotlights and focus heat onto a single spot reptile bulbs are generally overpriced I like these bulbs for basking you can go lower in wattage for lower temps or higher if you need to they push heat down more and spread it out to create a better basking spot
That humidity gauge is no good they are often immaculate and only measure from that point on the glass not where the animal will be and those lights are not good for a chameleon it can’t get us whole body under it akd the blue light is harmful to its eyes those cause burns on them because they...
I’m trying this right now too and honestly it’s not going great I didn’t have enough adults and now they died off and I am feeding off the hatchlings too fast for them to grow and breed gotta start over in hopes of lowering that cricket bill😔
I would LOVE that to be able to get some I mean their tolerance to conditions, live bearing AND beautiful colors I mean come on the perfect chameleon and I hear they are INCREDIBLY hardy and if they were in captivity would be the best beginner species
