The shop that sold them is in the Gauteng province so is the owner of the 2 I posted pictures of. So it makes sense that they could be B. transvaalense, they don't look like any other transvaalense i have seen though.
Here is a photo i got from the pet shop.
I feel like the more specimens there are in captivity the better. Don't get me wrong i'm not saying that we should take every single animal we come across into captivity, but we should build a strong world wide group of captive animals whilst being responsible with the numbers we take from the...
Damn that babies are gonna be epic! Too bad i don't live in the US otherwise i would have done something irresponsible to get my hands on one of his babies :p
If you don't mind me asking, what incubation substrate is that your using?
They are indigenous to South Africa, people go catch them in the wild and then sell them as veileds. They can't sell them as bradypodion because it is illegal to own them without permits. They trick people into thinking they are veileds.
Yes it is illegal to own any Bradypodion in SA or any other indigenous chameleon as far i know my flap necks included! I've only kept them because they were rescues.
Looks like we have a problem in SA i'm seeing more and more people selling Dwarf chameleons as veileds to vulnerable people that don't know the difference. One 'pet shop' even gives you a care sheet for a 'veiled' if you buy one. I have confronted them but thy don't want to listen. This is the...
My cousin's fiancé who lives in Knysna South Africa told me that there is a nursery near their home with B. damaranum all over the plants. He said that he roughly counted 20 one time when he was walking through there. I bet you guys wil like a surprise like that! :) That is truly one amaising...
Mine's also outside as much as possible. All i can think of is maybe you should get a UVB light and a 100w house bulb for basking and just keep him indoors for the winter and only take him out on the really nice days. Thats what i would do. It should get his colours back.
I have a question, is a panther considered a hybrid when he is of a mixed locale? Isin't it conidered a hybrid when two separate species are bred together? Olimpia Daedalus sure was a very beautiful chameleon! Chalu i think Goober is gonna be a stunner when he starts clouring up :)
Gee that's alot of crickets! How many babies do you have? I have a friend with 70 something eggs cooking right now, they should hatch in about 3-4 months from now. I can't imagine how much they are going to eat if they all hatch!
I also never mis an episode of Snakebytes tv, i wish Brian would go to some
of this breeders and make an episode just about chameleons!
I would especially like to see the kammers, i just love the panthers that they have!!:D
In South Africa we don't have anything rear as big as these...
