Recommendation/ thoughts on my enclosure in progress.

I've heard 6 inches too, but ideally you could measure using a light meter

I would think twice about raising your enclosure off the floor. In the wild, chameleons aren't always very high off the ground. I spent 2 week in Madagascar and most the chams I saw were only about 3-6 feet off the ground. That's also a lot of work to raise it and a lot of weight, so it could be...

    Cham sitting (SF Bay Area)???

Can you be more specific where in the Bay Area? I live in the East Bay. Also, on a related note, I choose dubia's because when I go on vacation, they can't escape. They just sit in the feeder cup.

Can someone tell me if my chameleon care is right for a panther?

I bred fruit flies for 10 years when I had a dart frog. It's a pain. It'll be difficult to get enough fruit flies to maintain your cham's appitite.

Couple questions about DIY enclosure materials

I made my enclosure out of wood and coated it with a thin layer of epoxy

    Does everything look okay here?

The vines are probably fine. It's not true that most keepers do not use them. They're perfectly safe.

    canned bugs

I saw that dubiaroaches.com has Canned Dubia's and "Zoo Med Can O’ Silkworms". Has anyone tried these? They're touted as a temporary solution if your next shipment is still a few days away. Shelf life of up to three years unopened. They also state that these freshly-preserved canned dubias are...

Does plant outside of safe plant list will be dangerous?

There are hundreds of thousands of plants in existence and only a handful on the cham-safe list. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to be perfect

Finally completed the enclosure for my juvenile Veiled Chameleon!

I have this turf in my front yard and you would need pliers to pull it out. Chams won't be able to do so.

    Humidfier

I recommend just use a mister and skip the humidifier because it's a lot of work to keep refiling the humidifier and it's a little redundant.

    Misters for watering plants

    Great suggestions guys, thanks.

    Misters for watering plants

I'll be using a MistKing system and I'm wondering if it will over-water the plants even though it's a short cycle a few times a day. If so, does anybody use any techniques to limit absorption? Maybe partially cover the soil with plastic?

    Biden's bulb ban

These should have been banned 10 years ago, although there's no cheap substitute for a 60 watt chameleon heater bulb

    Raising roaches experience (and advice)

Thanks for this post. You reaffirmed my conclusion that I'm better off buying them online than breeding. Also, my wife wouldn't have it ;)
