after the makeover
Finally almost finished with the enclosure changes. I still need to run in the dripper system, and then get the lighting put back on top. But I got all the plants and everything in and the major renovations done. What does everyone think of it? Carpets are supposed to need...
Ok thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I dont think I am quite ready for the new addition to move in just yet, since the enclosure is going to go through "Extreme Home Makeover- The Cham Edition" first, but I can certainly use his advice and maybe get a cham from him when the time comes!
I did a site search on carpet chams and buried somewhere in the 13 pages of posts I read was a thread saying that the size cage I have will work for them.:D I am going to cup feed anyways since I hated not knowing how much my flapneck was eating because the food always ran and hid in the...
I had rescued an adult female flapneck cham from some people who had her in a fishtank with one stick in it, my first ever cham. I tried to get everything set up right for her, but despite my efforts and a trip to the vets she got sick and I couldnt save her.
I fell in love with her, and I am...
I went to the store yesterday and got the stuff she needed, except the cacium without D3 since they didnt have any so I was going to just order some online. I got home and noticed that the yellow pigment was spreading again slightly, but I thought maybe getting her lights and stuff set up might...
Sorry I dont think I said that right about the baytril, I meant that maybe the comments I saw about it being hard on the kidneys was because for some reason the baytril might cause them to need more water than usual and if you dont give extra it would be hard on the kidneys. She just seems...
She is hanging in there still. The yellow spots are fading very very slowly and the eye is still swollen but not as much as it was when I first took her to the vet. I cant seem to get her good and hydrated, but I looked it up and I am wondering if maybe it is the Baytril? The vet said to work...
Oh she's eating by herself! She eats funny, she misses if she tries to eat normally I guess because she is only using one eye, but she sneaks up on the crickets and sticks just the tip of her tongue out very slowly until it sticks to the cricket and then pulls it into her mouth. I'm really...
The swelling and the yellow pigment have stopped spreading. She is still dehydrated but she is drinking from her dripper and I think she has seemed a little bit mroe active today. I have gone in to check on her a few times and found her awake and in a different place than she was before. Her...
She didnt look worse as far as swelling or yellow pigment this morning, but she did look dehydrated and lethargic. I gave her a 15-20 minute warm shower, gave her her meds and her vet food and hand fed her a cricket because she is starting to look very thin. I finally figured out a way to fix...
She seems to be getting worse instead of better. The swelling has spread down into her neck area this morning. I got some of the fluid out of her eye, but it was filled back up in again in less then an hour. I cant figure out where all of this fluid is coming from. I have done all I can do...
Thanks everyone for the advice, I am amazed at how quickly everyone in my family got attached to her, she is our favorite pet. My husband is stationed overseas and he is already making plans for building on to her enclosure and everything when he gets home and he asks me to take the webcam in so...
OK I just walked in the door, we drove 2 hours to a 24 hour emergency vet hospital with an "exotic pets" vet. It was the closest thing I could get to a reptile vet. They said she is on the skinny side, and just generally not in very good shape, which doesnt surprise me much.
They said the...
There are places around her eye where the skin pigment is yellow instead of green, and the neck flap on that side is swollen now too. It looks like it may be an infection that is behind the eye pushing it out and its spreading. I am calling like a crazy person trying to find a reptile vet open...
I gave her a shower, which she seemed to really enjoy. She hates it when I mist her enclousre but she seemed happy soaking in the shower. I am misting her often.
We live in Oklahoma, so it is getting fairly cool outside at night, but I checked before I put her next to the window and it doesnt...
Ok I looked at the other kinds and from what I can tell she is actually a flapneck chameleon, sorry. My husband was the one who looked it up, she does have a similiar color pattern to the gracefuls I saw but she has the skin that comes down over the neck that the gracefuls do not have. Sorry...
pics
I am not very tech smart so I hope the pics show up right, the first picture is her with her normal sized right eye showing, she is dark in the picture since I picked her up, normally she is a light green unless she is basking then she turns a darker green or brownish color...
I'm new here so I apologize if I make any mistakes in how I am supposed to post here. This is my first cham, so I'm obviously clueless.
I have a female chameleon, about 7 months old from what I was told when I got her. We looked it up and believe that she is a graceful, the lady I got her...
