It is adorable, my kids are loving it.
Bemo has been doing very well this week, I changed a few things with his feeding and vitamins and he is responding well. But yesterday when I got home from work I noticed a little bit of white crust around his nostrils. It actually looks like a patch of dry skin/shedding skin...less like crust...
I live in Toledo, Ohio. I scrolled through the vet posting on this site. I only found the one that I went to today, but I didn't go through every page after that.
I was already all set to follow through with everyone's advice from the previous post. I located a pet store that carries phoenix worms, but unfortunately not a singe container has larvae, so I am going to go back when their shipment comes in on Wednesday. I found the proper calcium, since I was...
I took Bemo to a very accredited exotic vet in my area that has a lot of reptile experience. Some of you know I posted some pics last week because I was worried my cham's legs were a little misshaped/swollen.
The vet didn't perform any special tests, just a standard physical exam and review...
Bemo is in a dinning room area also. I cover three sides with a sheet and the backside is against the wall and clamp the sheet so its nice and snug. I have two curious cats that I don't trust alone. It helps regulate temperatures also, because my house is drafty. Before I covered him, I found...
Thanks for the heads up about the mister. I am going to Petco tomorrow because they are having some special halloween/reptile event that my kids want to go to, so I will check on the worms. If I find them, how often do you feed them to your cham?
I understand this. But can you imagine walking out into -5 degree weather with no coat? It would be a shock to us, and we have the ability to regulate our body temperature unlike a chameleon. I would have to believe that even a brief moment in those conditions could be an issue. The question...
To top if off, our property is surrounded by a nature preserve that specializes in the conservation of endangered birds and insects. So Bald Eagles have always been an issue, they carry of chickens, small dogs...my cham would just be an appetizer. So needless to say, I am the one watching him...
Yes I found one that specializes in exotic pets, and it is only maybe 2-3 miles away, very convenient. They also sent me a questionnaire very similar to the one on this site, so I think that is a positive sign.
If I ever had to take him out in the winter there might be a need. Temperatures can fall below 0 here. Of course it would have to be a major emergency, but I like to be prepared. I am a planner!
Could you describe the heat pack for me? My cham was not shipped? Is it a one time use sort of heat back? I am a physical therapist, so I have access to a variety of heat packs and I know the temperature range for all of them. I wouldn't have time to get a specialized reptile one before Monday...
The vet I found is specifically for exotic pets and they emailed me a form that looks very similar to the husbandry questions on this site. So I think that is a good sign!
