it has put me off slightly which i hope i can overcome and as you say "get back in the saddle"
i will continue to do my research before i purchase another cham. i love reptiles and chams aswell as beardies are my favourites! so hopefully i can get it rite (as well as the correct info) the next...
thanx once again, i hope know one ever has to go thru any of the things i went thru with the little guys, it was heart breaking to watch and frustrating to think there was nothing i could do but make them as comfortable as possible.
thanx for all of your support once again,
our condolences...
hi debby thanx for your post,
i'm afraid to report that the little guy passed away this morning too. he didnt even make it thru the night. i rang the vet this morning and cancelled the appointment and explained what happened and they too said we must have been sold too very poorly chams.
i...
i just wish i had found this forum before all of this happened. i did seek more advice fom other shops and they all contradicted each other.
thanx to all for the info and advice, i really do apreciate it.
i'll keep you posted as to what happens if he makes it thru the night and what the...
thanx for all of the replies guys you've got no idea how good is to know people care and for all of the info your passing on.
i totally agree that i entered the cham lifestyle very unprepared and without the knowledge i should have so i do admit that was wrong on my behalf.....
i also think...
sorry but to carry on........ he told us we only had to mist them twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. i'm guessing that is wrong, i did actualy think this wasn't enough and did it 3 times daily.....
plus, where can i buy 'critical care formula'?? will this help him? (stupid...
funny you should say that because a vet that i rang told us that he may have sold us sick chams. when i spoke to the guy today i said that they may have already been sick when we got them he denied it and said that they were fine and the breeder is a 'sound guy'....... what ever that is supposed...
to try and follow what you need to know; my chams were only 6 weeks old, i have had them for 4 days now. i am feeding them, small crickets (which i feed on bits of chopped carrott), the odd meal worm and the odd waxworm (i know they are high in fat so i tend not to give them too many of these)...
i did put in my FIRST POST that i had listed everything i had in another thread titled "Side stripe chameleon (rudis) baby, need help urgent, dying!!! "
i will list again though.......
this is my problem, my closest reptile vet is over 200 miles away!! i very much doubt he wouldsurvive the journey if i had transport. i cant even get in touch with a breeder to see if there maybe something they can do. i really appreciate your advice..... its more than most other people have given.
we were told by the shop that they needed temps of 27 degrees cels but i've literally just found info on the web that says they need lower temps than that!!! i think i have been miss informed which has nearly cost me two gorgeous baby cams. one has already died and the other i dont think is gnna...
I started a new thread earlier but noone is giving me any advice about my remaining baby side stripe cham!!! i'm gonna lose him tonight i'm certain. when i came in from work today i found my baby cham, only just, clinging to a leaf in his viv. when i looked closer, his tongue is hanging out and...

good luck with your little'n'.
since ive posted this one has died and the other is VERY ill and we dunno what to do. his eye isbulging and he is very dark any ideas as he seems lifeless.
its a side striped chameleon (rudis), apparently they were only discovered 5 years ago and only grow to around 5-6 inches. because of this, we cant find very much info on them. we have spoken to different cham breeders who have given different info for lookin after them i.e different temps...
