I had gone to Petco about 2 weeks ago for emergency food for my leopard gecko. As always, I look at their chams. There was a panther for $400, a Jackson for $180, and a Veiled for $50. There was also a sign on the Veiled's 'enclosure' if you could even call it that. It read "Sorry I am not...
I know vets in my area will work on a payment plan with their customers. They don't always advertise it, sometimes you have to ask. Most vets are pretty good about it and love to help in any way
I want to say that you're doing such a great job caring for Pickle in his time of need. I think you're doing so much more than what a newbie cham owner would have done. I've been lurking on this thread from day one. I was scared for poor little Pickle, but he seems to be doing so much better...
If you have a Fleet Farm (Or probably any farming sort of store like that) near you, you might be able to get them there, but I think they're meant for fishing and might not be "feeder quality" if that makes a difference.
Everything sounds more than wonderful to me! It's nice to hear that you've done a bunch of research.
Side-note: before my cham passed, I was going to do an outdoor enclosure but I also live in Wisconsin and weather isn't always favorable here for a chameleon.
How long have you had her? She might need some time to adjust. Some chams just don't like being handled at all. But I'd suggest just sitting near where her cage is. Don't stare at her, just start doing things around the cage so she gets used to your presence. Also, try hand feeding her. She'll...
I'm no expert, but since it's so close to when his lights go off, I wouldn't worry about it. Is there any natural light in the room? He could be forming a sleep schedule around sunrise and sunset
I honestly just left the bottom bare. It was so much easier to clean.
The bowl for the extra water is fine to keep unless you notice it making more of a mess than worth.
Everything sounds great! If I were you, I'd just scrap the eco-carpet. Sometimes it's more trouble than it's worth. I got rid of mine about a week after I had my cham because it would get soaking wet and would never dry.
I'm so sorry for you loss. The medication probably took a great toll on him. At least he's no longer in pain and you did the best that you could to keep him alive make him happy.
Just thought that I would update you all on Walker's condition. Sadly, on Mother's Day, he passed away from unknown causes. It turned out that he didn't have a respiratory infection. My vet wasn't too sure of what was going on with him, so I was going to take him to a bigger and better vet after...
Just last week my cham was on a bit of a hunger strike. We had to take him out of his enclosure to feed him, and even then he'd only eat maybe two or three crickets a day. He's been doing a lot better and eating a lot more than usual, but these past few days, but lately, he's been gaping and...
