Thanks Texas Panther man. that's pretty much what I've been reading re the heavily planted cage and frequent mistings. I do have a screen cage I'm getting ready. It was a step back for my veiled (now in a much bigger one) and is 18x18x36. I was thinking that would be okay since the fisher...
Probably goes for lots of thing really. Guess I got lucky with my first veiled. Will definitely go back to that breeder though if I ever want another cham and hope the niceness runs in his blood line ;)
Seeco sounds like the one to talk to about the fisher so that I will do. Thanks...
Thank you. Yes I can see from that and other pics I've looked at, that the little guy I'm going to get needs to get in a propper home asap.
Thanks for your help.
Funny I keep reading how aggressive veilds are but mine is a sweetheart. Climbs right on out when I open his cage and usually sits...
okay, so am I looking for basking temp of 80 - 85 ish?
If I can get everything ready I should be able to pick him up on Thurs or Fri. I know this pet store takes crappy care of their animals, he's in a glass box about 12x12x12 right now. However they are willing to throw in a bulk order...
Okay, just to clarify that is a photo I snapped at the pet store. I have only put a deposit on him and not brought him home yet. He will go into the 18x 18 x36 exo terra as soon as I get him. I've got a busy couple days and just don't have the time to get set up until later in the week. NO...
While I was at the pet store today, (not my fave, but they order crickets in bulk for me which saves me shipping charges) I saw something I hadn't seen before. While having lunch, I did some quick reading and then went and put a deposit on him. Now I need to learn all I can before the weekend...
i use pill bugs in my hermit crab tank as cleaner bugs. They eat mold and crab poop and help to keep the tank clean, there by decreasing the need for totally disturbing the tank to do a deep clean. i never thought of them as a food source for something else? i'll have to go bug hunting again...
You must've posted that video previously, cause that's where I got the screen idea from. I just put it on the bottom of a delicup. one of those milk jugs would take up too much space right now. Maye when he's bigger! thanks for posting it!
I'd been looking all over for a calcium powder with out Vit D. Had absolutley no luck. PetSmart, Petco and small mom and pop shops. I did find this though. A liquid calcium supplement by Zilla. Has anyone used this? It just says to spray on food and wait 15 sec for it to dry. 3 drops...
i switched to cup feeding to keep track of intake better as well. unfortunatley, I think my little guy prefers the hunt of having them free range. I'm keeping the cup in there, cause my roach colony is pretty much established and I just don't want to let those things crawl around. I have a...
i'm so awfully new at this myself. i'm really thinking it wouldn't be normal.... or good to not have any urate at all. Glad he's eating for you though. he will get some moisture from that, but not enough. my little guys fluid intake increased a lot when i installed a dripper.
nice to meet ya! Sounds like you already have way more experience with Chams than me! But there are wonderful people here who are very helpful and knowledgeable! They sure have helped me feel comfortable with looking after my little guy!
After many months of deliberation. i went with the veiled as breeders convinced me it was a better one to start with, having had no previous experience! i'm just loving him!
no offence should be taken. and many, many people rush into buying a reptile or a dog for that matter with out fully understanding the how much is involved. i thought about a chameleon for a good 6 months before finally deciding to get one. and i started my reptile hobby with something a lot...
i thought for sure mine would too. but when i told him how much i was spending on crickets, and that i'd be saving that money he was fine with it, so long as i assured him they wouldn't be escaping. i put my roach container inside a larger one as an extra protective measure (also helps to keep...
another question.... Will a full grown veiled eat full grown dubias? i couldn't believe how big they are. i know i have nothing else that would eat them. maybe the hermies will once their dead. of course.... could be the perfect excuse to get that bearded dragon i've always wanted. :D A...
