1-year old panther not getting colors?

I dont find this too alarming, as my cham has been in lovely condition since he was a baby. But i did notice that my male Sambava panther hasnt gotten his colors yet and is reaching his 1-year with me. Ive been told it isn't too much to worry about because he seems fine. Ive triple checked that he is indeed male, and i got him from Kammerflage Kreations, who from my experience is a very reputable breeder.

Excuse the grammar and/or spelling

So funny I posted almost the same thing earlier about my 9 month old! Lol they told me they can get their colors 1-1.5 years so u may have some time to go like mine. Surprisingly my kammerflage Cham who’s only 4 months is WWWWAAAAAAYYYYY more colorful than my 9 month one from framschams (def not their fault or an issue) it sounds like it just heavily varies on the Cham. Because Freddy (my 9 month) siblings are bursting with color so idk lol what does yours look like?

Wow Late reply! Haven’t been on in a while 😅

But yeah you’re probably right!! I don’t find it an issue at all, and since i’ve posted this he’s gotten much more color!!

Can you post a pic of your sambava male now I just got my sambava about 3 months ago he’s 5 months dude told me it was a male but there’s no color so I was really thinking it was female but now that you say how long they have to wait to get the color I might be second guessing my self

Howdy! So that post was from 2022. NOt sure the poster will be available to reply. Would you like to post a picture of your cham and we can maybe see if we can help sex him for you? Full body picture, preferably from the side, so we can see the tail as well.

This is him

Can you get a picture of his whole body, with his tail sticking out straight behind him? I *think* you have a male, but it's kind of hard to tell. You're looking for a SLIGHT bump just past the cloaca - that bump is where his hemipenis is located.

For what it's worth, here's my male at about the same age, and now:

He won’t walk with his tail straight right now

I'm pretty sure you have a male! My first one wasn't a sambava but he took almost a year before he showed any real color. Hang in there!

You think it’s a male? I’ve had my doubts since ole dude handed him to me at repticon,I got him from beachside chameleons and haven’t heard the best things about them only after I purchased sucks cause I really don’t know how to care of a female only had males

HOnestly I can't be sure (I keep doubting myself). But really there aren't a ton of differences between males and females in their care. They biggest difference is a lay bin which is fairly cheap to build and super easy to maintain. I'd suggest posting a new thread here and asking input from others who may have more experience than I do. That way you can post about sex, and if consensus is female, there are extremely knowledgable folks here who can point you towards female care.
