1st DIY Enclosure

I think I'm going to ditch the centered Z bracket mount for the single MistKing nozzle, grab two more nozzles, and go with that mud pan rain dome idea. And the cost keeps going up...

I guess that shows what a great job you did. I thought it was real roots a leaves you stuck to the floor. My first thought was how miserable the clean up would be. Where did you find vinyl sheeting with a jungle floor on it? Or did you get in printed?

Did some rearranging. I took out those Pothos and added an Orchid and two Bromelaids, installed the Mist King nozzle into a dry wall mud pan for the DIY rain dome, added some faux Pothos vines and added a 5K aquarium plant light that really makes his colors look amazing.

Really nice man. Looks awesome

Thanks man. I think I'm finally finished, for now.

I know a lot of people say their Chams can be timid with eating, drinking, and human exposure, but this guy has no filter. He eats out of my hand, comes out of this enclosure on to me, and drinks in plain sight with me only inches away. Definitely night and day vs. my female Veiled.

Here's a vid of him drinking I took yesterday.

Very cool! I like the video,I just did one of my enclosure too,I was trying to show the rain zone I made out of just fake plants and the mist king I have.

Post it up! I need to get rid of the adjustable Mist King nozzle and add a shorter nozzle, drill two more holes on each side, and then I think I'd get the water coverage I want. As of right now the nozzle is so long it almost touches the screen and I have to aim it to one side.

I'm not sure if Marty carries though as I did not see them on his site.

I posted it yesterday in my general photography thread, labeled action jacksons HABITat.
I think Marty carries what ya need.

You can always make it shorter by removing some of the tubing on the assembly. The Assembly itself comes with a few elbows to allow you the flexibility to move it around. I have some that don't have any elbows at all, just a straight shot from the Bulkhead piece.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. I need the top thread/washer to secure the nozzle, but a straight shot underneath without the elbows. It didn't seem like it unscrewed though and I was weary of putting any force into it.

It definitely does unscrew. I was worried about it at first too, but with just a tad of force it came undone. I'm very impressed by your work man. If you were closer to me, I would pay you to make me one. :D

I spoke with Marty and think I MIGHT do 3 greenhouse T nozzles. Only issue I run into with that is getting them to mist any further than the 13" mud pan. I'd like all the plants to get misted and with the enclosure being 30" wide I'd need to run two pans, or have at least one nozzle on the end be adjustable to spray coverage the other side.

Thanks again for the kind words. It was my first enclosure so I learned a lot which is invaluable. A few people have suggested I do that, but I just don't see a big market, not to mention the setup is pricey which labor would only increase that.

I could always do something smaller scale though and I have found some pretty cool looking curio and corner cabinets on CraigsList. I have also thought about cutting cork to standard screen cage width and heights (Reptibreeze, Dragonstrand, etc) and using it as a base to create foam/silicone/substrate backgrounds that would just drop in and need to be secured. That'd probably appeal to more people.

Hi bansky a few questions first do you think this would work with a dresser i had the same ideas as you but wasnt sure if it would work. Could you go more in depth with the silicone substrate i love that idea and was wondering how you did it exactly and is it safe for the chameleon. i currently dont own a cham yet but im getting into it and looking to making a diy cage

I think it would work with anything given proper motivation and approach. What kind of dresser? Like an armoire? Have an example?

After I used the great stuff foam on the background and it dried, I smeared brown silicone over the foam, and while it was still wet I sprinkled coconut fiber substrate over the silicone, pressed it firmly down, waited for it to dry, and whatever doesn't adhere falls off.

As far as everything being safe my Cham is perfectly healthy. The GEII silicone is pretty light, and if you happen to be painting or using anything with fumes just let it air out before you put your Cham in.

Great job!

Here's my mudpan rain done with 3 greenhouse nozzles. It does a great job extending beyond the sides. You can see that in the video.

That's a good amount of mist! Nice work. My only issue is that the mud pan is 13" wide while my enclosure is 31" wide. I might me able to make it with two, but I don't have a lot of room up top for it running my single PowerSun for UVA/UVB/heat, a 22" hood with a 5k Flora light, and the existing 13" mud pan.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. I really want to custom build a cage too but I don't know the first thing about any of it. Maybe if I keep looking at posts like this it'll help me figure out what to do lol.
