2 month old panther cham won't eat!!!

Hey I got a 2 month old maybe 3 month panther chameleon. It's a male. I got him yesterday and put him in his cage and he walked around a little then went to sleep when the lights went out. I tried to feed him in the morning after he warmed up but would not eat from the tongs. So before I went to school I put some crickets and mealworms in a yogurt container and attached it to the side of the cage. When I came how from school he was in a new spot but no crickets or mealworms where eaten. He's in a xl repti breeze like the breeder suggested he has a mist king system and it mists 4 tints a day for around 1 min each time. He has a dripper also and I didn't see him drink at all. His basking temps are in the 80s and peaking at 90. I tried to feed him 1\4 in crickets like the breeder said I should. He has 12h light on and 12 h light off. I keep the humidity in the 70s peaking higher when misting.

Am I doing everything correct?? Should I be worried that he is not eating yet as it is only the second day. He does seem to think that the crickets are predators as he always puffs up if I try to feed him with tongs.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Make sure he can see the insects in the container.

Please post a photo of the cage. What's the temperature in the area he usually sits in?

Okay I am just worried because he is tiny and I don't think he can go long without food. Also should the food cup be clear??

I would give him a little more time to adjust. Don't freak out just yet! A lot of people do not like using cages so big for babies as it might be hard for them to find their food, because the prey will have so many hiding places. I think if you are feeding by the cup method you will be ok with the larger cage. It is not recommended to use a clear cup as your chameleon might try and shoot from the outside of the cup and get his tongue stuck. If you get something opaque(semi transparent) they will be able to see the movement of the bugs and will be attracted to it. A lot of people use the same kind of cup you are using and as long as they can look down inside and see the bugs, you should be ok.

Okay thanks! And are all my temps okay?? His basking area about 80-90 and his favorite place to sit is around 74-75. And at night what should his temps be?? Thanks!

Yes, those temps are ok. People have conflicting ideas or opinions on what night temps can go down to before adding heat to the cage. I think 60ish is ok for a baby before adding heat. Other might say higher. If your temps are in the low 70's or high 60's you should be fine.

Just wanted to update it with how he is doing. I have not seen him eat yet but he has stuck his tong out at a brach and it looks like hr liked a little water uo
